I think it's more of a South/north thing within Chicago. Also, white sox merch just looks cooler. Wrigley is the much better stadium though

I loved it and am very bummed it's going to be harder to watch now.

People know socialism exists

I'm not sure they do. I think most people have heard the term and think that it basically means high taxes and high govt intervention (basically social democracy). Or they think it means that the government controls the economy and all companies would become nationalized. I was effectively a socialist for a couple of years before I realized I was. A lot of people need to know what socialism even is before they can erase the stigma in their minds.

My dad was a high school English teacher for decades before taking an early retirement last year. Administration banned the Handmaid's Tale, one of his favorite books to teach. He became a suicidal alcoholic and was pushed out. Thankfully, he's much happier now that he's sober and spends most of his time woodworking, but it never should've come to this.

The right wing has embraced populism going back to the tea party movement in the late 2000s. The democrats are having a harder time embracing left wing populism because it scares away their big rich donors. That's always been a factor but more so now that corporate donations and dark money in politics makes those rich people so much more important for fundraising.

I think he wears them because he sometimes rides a sketchy train line late at night and he wants to be able to record if something goes down. He has normal, vision correcting lenses in them so I can't just ask him to take them off. The best path forward to respect my friend while respecting my own privacy is to try to bring up the privacy concerns of those glasses and hope he gets the hint.

My main point is when people say things online like "if I see somebody with those I'd slap them off". No you wouldn't. You wouldn't do or say anything. The person who says that online is a keyboard warrior that's unfamiliar with real life confrontation. Your privacy is not being respected by getting into a fistfight, drawing the attention of everyone including the police. That's not how you would solve this conflict. That's how you become an asshole with a mugshot.

People say stuff like this online but it's just dumb. These glasses intentionally look like normal ray bans so you probably wouldn't notice. The only time I've noticed someone wearing them, it was a friend of mine so I'm not going to be an asshole. Are you an asshole?

Oh wow I'm on my phone and I didn't even see that the pictures were options for a configurator. Having interior speakers under what is basically a glove box panel is odd. Surely there's a better way to do that.

I think this isn't actually installed at the factory though. I think they're marketing these "options" as diy kits to sell you. Otherwise they would have to handle a crazy amount of customization options in their production which would eliminate the savings of a simple truck in one color.

If they're smart, they'll pre-run the wiring for a stereo and sell a stereo kit. That would make the car more appealing

They're offering a holder for a Bluetooth speaker. I didn't see anything on their website about pre installed speakers.

  1. Max payload is 1400lbs. Max tow is 1000lbs.
  2. "Designed to meet 5 star crash safety rating" (which means they haven't done the tests yet)
  3. Not yet.
  4. The interior pics look like they have rubber mats. Hard to tell.
  5. Bed is 4'x5'

Honestly, this thing isn't that big. It's 8" shorter than a Corolla. With the slant back roof, it's basically a tall hatchback. Definitely not efficient for an EV for the reasons you mention.

Dan Gelbart is a rich Canadian guy who made his millions building machines for other companies. Now he has a money-is-no-object shop to mess around in. I particularly like the video going over his lathe/grinder combo that he designed and built. The spindles and ways are on air bearings and it's incredibly precise. Also check out his video on flexures where he shows off a simple water jet part that allows 25x resolution for you measurements or positioning.

Game starts at 4:05. He entirely relies on game audio to play the game. Street Fighter 6 has good accessibility options that he uses to help understand the game state.

On the Beehaw local page, it's filled with posts from the Socialism community. On my subscriptions page, it's filled with posts from a 196 community. I'm glad Lemmy is getting communities that are gaining traction, but I don't want my feeds dominated by a few communities. I'm not sure if this is a Lemmy issue, a Beehaw issue, or a Thunder issue. Anybody have any ideas?

Pictured is mainly the shoe unit and backing plate for a CNC internal grinding machine. The quill sans wheel is on the right. The single point dresser is mounted to the shoe unit. This is a picture taken before re-fitting this grinder to grind taper inner ring bores. This grinder wasn't meant for that so I took a picture for reference while we discussed what modifications were needed.
