"Not that we'd do literally anything to stop the bill either."

Even if it were "working towards a goal" there are so many generations between any starting point and the end, that you could find one and say "wow this is silly, why doesn't it have X yet".

As we all know, the end goal of evolution is carcinization. We should not have soft outsides. We need a shell, NOW. sicko-crab

On one hand its been a ritual for me and my friends to laugh at the often awful sometimes just funny shit that gets put on the front page of the biggest gaming platform.

On the other, holy shit there does need to be censorship.

If getting rid of "give me money for saying the 14 words" would get rid of "out of respect, I won't repeat even the tame names of the average gooner game"... I guess I'd take it. I'd mourn for a peak into the funny part of human sexuality. But I think I'd survive.

A shocking number of Americans/Westerners just casually accept that leftist/socialist is shorthand for "evil". Its definitely gotten better. To the point people like my dad are at least a bit slower to spout hitlerite thought.

That is assuming that this isn't the average semi-aware rightie that purposefully does this crap.

Tech really is going down hill exponentially fast. It took all of 1 android update for my phone to decide that it should "serve" me random news articles, and download a jpg from the article. And put said jpg at the top of my download folder. And I'd need to root the fucker/usb debug to uninstall the shit. I'm getting to the borderline support the death penalty to the devs that decided you shouldn't own everything on your device. Creeps just want to install spyware and enforce "intellectual property". If you obfuscate runtime or uninstallation more then 2 clicks (or worse, not remove everything besides things like saves, settings, and you better let me know if that was left), you deserve to be dunked like the poor witches were.

Maps wouldn't let me use voice without enabling their shit bot (I don't usually use it but someone suggested it for notekeeping and I considered it). I just want a device that has a brick of battery, can play yt videos, has usb c, and can make calls. Oh and won't break if it gets dropped more then 3 inches. Maybe a 3.5 jack (lol remember those?), a decent camera, and ~maybe~ a thermal camera. My requirements are nothing, but if you actually want that, you're looking at 5 year old phones or 1 of like 3 new ones that cost 3x for nearly the same specs. I'd be fine with the old ones, if I knew its going to get newer updates (I don't care about """features""" but really don't want to be carrying around a security hazard).

Its incredible that usability of tech peaked in like 2017. Opening a server nowadays (that isn't tied up in some service) to the web sounds like an actual timebomb before someone ruins it for you, and javascript is unworkable for my brain/style. Google/amazon/whatever has to "abstract" data/algorithm you could have just downloaded and ran but nope, pay us a penny per call. I've literally used godot to bundle boilerplate I/O for a basic app because I was sick of figuring out the magic words to make some simple program in C/Python, and am too ADHD to maintain a proper personal toolbox.

I checked my resume because I'm having a certified moment at my job. I wrote it in Latex because everyone was doing it back in ~2019-2020. Now, the fucking editor I used wants to have its fucking "ai" editor "help" me and put the error somewhere I didn't see. I had to manually review the code and I was missing a single fucking }. Yeah guys, totally going to pay for your bot to tell me nonsense, instead of the thing that has been doable since before I was born. The thing they're steadily degrading in VS. The shit we discussed in undergrad, and professors said, yeah its solved and boring so let's just cover it in theory and not in practice (IE, make a abstract machine and not write actual code for it). The amazing tech of bracket matching.

I feel like its a matter of time at this point until something fundementally breaks and computers just stop being tractable objects for a decade or two while those of us in CS not chatgpt-brained and not brain dead from exhaustion figure out how to make printers work again.

TLDR: possum-mama

I felt MUCH more creative just tracing other's art (for personal practice, they don't survive long enough to be saved). I felt more creative finding a cruddy lego comic I made when I was 8. I felt more creative seeing a pallet my neighbor threw away and taking it to use for scrap wood for maybe making a cat tree. All more creative then trying to wrestle an "ai" to make a blurry ugly mess. The BEST piece I got still had odd eyes and muddy lighting.

I can barely draw a straight line. I can barely TRACE a hand. Yet I've gotten better. If I had the time/energy/drive, I could become decent, even without spending 10 million hours. I've just accepted certain personal limits. Like a slight natural shakey hand. It was frustrating wanting to paint minitures, but I got over it and had a hell of a time painting a simple landscape ala Bob Ross.

I've had a better time THINKING about evangelion and how I might make a game based on all the admin and engineering aspects the anime glances over. Not even the "art" stuff about it... but also thinking about the times it talks about the environment, its relation to late 90s tech, purity, the supposed "accidental" use of abrahamic icons, its seemingly forward projected critic of certain anime tropes, the disatisfaction with there being no clean end of anything human... And I still have to watch more then just the first series.

Besides everything else, I love leftist theory/thought because of the actual freedom it provides. ("Leftist", "Theory" here being a bit loose.) Accepting what is and improving what can and needs to be is such a detoxifying mindset. Perfect would be nice, but sometimes you just can't be, and you have to learn to forget your notions of perfection. I'll probably never get over ~specific, fairly minor, chronic disorder that I shouldn't add to my dox~, but I can tune out the distress 99% of the time, and the 1% I can cope with.

(Assuming American) I swear I remember seeing some at joann's (but they closed). Michael's might have some. Office depot/staples might have some. All would have like crappy/very generic black and blue ink though. If you want anything fancy you gotta go online or hope to be near a specialty shop.

I've ordered online from goulet, but I swear they had a small business tyrant moment somewhat recently. (Regarding carrying noodler's ink, iirc.)

Jet pens is the other one I've heard pretty consistently good things about. I think they focus on East-Asian ink/supplies though.

Sucks that its a niche hobby. I enjoyed my time with it and need to get back to it. Helped me improve my handwriting to almost readable.

"Uhm actuckly, youtube is merely a content delivery platform." nerd

But yeah, insane that yt takes half their paycheck, some guy in a suit takes half, then they still gotta pay editors and riggers. Capitalism truly is efficient.

Seriously, I thought VShojo was basically OWNED by the creators. (I do not follow vtubers other then what I randomly catch.) Did they really just change owners and expect things to change?

[–] KoboldKomrade@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Vtubers mixed "idol" "talent agency" with early youtube "content managers" for some unholy reason.

Basically some creeps get paid half of what people throw at vtubers for doing nothing. Somehow they all thought this was a good idea. Despite every one of them being successful BEFORE they signed (seriously I have yet to hear of one of these vtubers NOT having a million+ subs before putting on an anime girl). Oh and they lose control of their IP, so if they leave they lose their character, channel, etc.

I have no idea why you'd sign with one of them. You can easily network already. You can hire people to edit, manage shit, do taxes, whatever. It's cheaper and less predatory then these "agencies". I think the only reason is they seem to be able to instantly get you 1k+ viewers. Which is the minimum to drive self-sustaining growth on sites like twitch. But people already flock to vtubers who network at all.

And this is literal physics 1 stuff. We were tasked to come up with the rocket equation basically on our own, with minimal setup. Like we walked in and we tasked with it ~before~ the lecture on it. He walked around with the TAs helping us along. Even my groupwas able to give a good answer. With a level of physics described by KSP, and we were like C-B students at best. Its so basic I'd expect the "average" (willing) person to be able to understand the concepts.

Deriving that really was a fun moment, because even though we didn't get it all by ourselves, it felt like we ~could~ have given a bit of time. Really made me feel like I had passed some basic level of understanding of how the world works. I couldn't tell you the equation at this point, but I don't work with rockets, physics, or much advanced math daily. Really a joke that I feel more qualified then these clowns.

"It """cost"""* us 10 trillion dollars to develop and 100000 per dose*. Sorry peasant, just reality works!"

*Subsidized by the government and profits of other patents they "obtained". *100000 per dose in America, $1 per dose everywhere else.

(Its so cool that my prescriptions would be 1k+ for the 4th most common, ~20 year old anti-depressant, and what is (basically) literal meth.)
