They have no fucking clue what they’re saying either

Just to be clear on the biometrics, no normal device anyone uses sends your biometrics to apps secured by biometrics.

It’s more that your phone stores a very strong password that’s specific to that app, and your phone will automatically enter that password, but only if the phone can validate the biometric.

This is not meant to detract from anything else you said, just clearing up how that actually works.

I thought it was like: we found out it can be profitable to take the time to make a high quality product. At least when Larian is doing it.

Late stage capitalism is where your best idea for showing disapproval for capitalism is to buy some shit.

I didn’t realize that this was like a Fibonacci-esque situation. That’s a lot of birds.

I thought the browser, my computer or something was slowing down. Turns out I just had way too many ublock rules.

“Google” not as much of a selling point anymore? Or are they gonna sell it off?

You must be fun at parties

No, like for real. People getting excited about what they do is the best.

I cancelled after the last hike, and my family has access to my plex server with great quality and reliability, and a simple request system. But they barely use it. They just got their own Netflix after I cancelled the one we shared that I was paying for.

This is such an important feature to me, as a person who really likes to engage in back and forth comment conversations, timely responses are immensely helpful, and only feasible with notifications.

I’m aware there are on going costs, personally I’m happy to pay a couple of bucks a month for push notifications alone. More if other features are also included.

Wish I could zoom in more on this image, ideally till it fits the full width of the screen, for this particular image.

Still trying to figure out reproduction steps, but it happens frequently.

I get a push notification for a new comment reply (from another lemmy app) while browsing inside of Avelon. I click inbox and see no new reply.

I go to pull to refresh, but it won’t refresh, no icon or anything. Just scrolls.

Workaround: I switch from all inbox to unread and then I can see the new reply.

Edit (via bean): Seems that all pages, inbox all, inbox unread, and the post view will only refresh once per load. And have to be navigated away from before they can be refreshed again.

This riddle wasn’t very much fun when viewed in the app:

I rewatched an old but good video on the war on drugs. And it reminded me, that tlaw enforcement is AT BEST 1 step ahead of some criminals. But that the criminal element is always rapidly adapting, and the best thing we can do against drugs and crime is to focus on the demand side.

We legalized the drugs, but didn't do the more important half of that solution, treatment and services for the drug users.

So, why aren't we doing more? Who dropped the ball? Are we doomed to just keep throwing more law enforcement at the problem?

Almost immediately in episode 1, I felt like it was a completely different show. Cinematography doing weird things, script feels written by AI, maybe a angsty teen at best... 3 episodes in and I'm not sure I want to even continue watching it.

The stock market isn’t the economy… jic that’s what this article is referring to.

Uses a stupid fucking definition of unemployment, then tosses out a biased ass line disparaging peoples distrust of media.

But the poll found that 51% wrongly believe that unemployment is nearing a 50-year high rather than those who believe it’s actually low (49%).

Totally worth a recurring paid plan, it’s one of the key features for me, as it enables much better community discussions.

You’ve been on the internet.

Edit: But so have I, only after I got it, did I realize the “80s song lyrics” category.

I’m often participating in multiple conversations at once. So it’s particularly necessary to go to the original context when reading a comment reply.

However, when I get a new comment reply, I click on it in the inbox to go to the context, it appears to try to load the context and scroll to the right spot but if the thread has more comments than fit on a screen, then it just scrolls down one page, and stops scrolling before loading/displaying more comments. This means I have to do a lot of scrolling before I get to the highlighted comment.

It’s actually quite annoying.
