I feel like we need to take everyone who actually enjoys AI art, saw off the tops of their craniums and apply stimulation notes directly to the novelty and pleasure centres of their brains for the rest of their happy lives. I don’t see a functional difference between that and the enjoyment of art that’s bereft of any human involvement.

Yet I can't help but see stuff like this and think it’s cool.

I mean on the one hand it erodes all creative fields as a viable profession for actual humans, makes a mockery of that creativity by digesting and regurgitating their work for secondary consumption like a fly and it lights a section of the the rainforest on fire every time a big red button is pushed. But on the other hand you really really like the treats.

The October surprise will be when, seemingly completely exhausted, he begins to slump off the stage wearily. Just after his aids drape a cape over his shoulders, he turns around and bursts back onto the stage, sliding on his knees and wailing in exuberance into the microphone. The sauce hasn’t returned. The sauce never left. We haven’t even seen the sauce before.

This came to mind after I was reading about the video game designer who developed PTSD after working on Mortal Kombat 11. His dreams became excruciatingly violent, and his day-to-day was interacting with coworkers studying medical anatomy and watching videos of slaughtered animals.

This is totally off tangent and I feel for this guy but he really shouldn’t have done this. I worked in VFX for several years (which is what radicalized me) and for most of those years I was the resident gore guy on some movies and TV shows you’ve probably seen. I learned very early on that medical photos and footage of real human wounds and sketchy website videos of slaughtered animals are not only mentally corrosive to look and morally questionable take make art out of, they’re also dog shit quality as photo references almost uniformly.

But you know what looks just like the skin on someone’s scalp cracking open from blunt trauma? A pumpkin after it’s been dropped. Wanna know what looks like skin sloughing off a face that’s been doused in acid? A delicious pizza losing its melty cheese. Wanna know what looks like a hideous boil the size of a baseball oozing pus? A freshly cut chocolate lava cake with it’s caramel dripping out. There is an endless supply and variety of food stock photography available cheaply online. I actually don’t know if this is standard practice, but it definitely should be.

My blood boils just recalling that video.

Oh won’t someone think of all of those poor cash-strapped small indie devs self-publishing live service games

Anyone who watches the Forbidden Zone should be warned that there’s quite a bit of blackface in it. Amazing movie though, especially if you like 1930s cartoons.

Are you suggesting that I should dance to LeAnn Rimes on the floor?

I want to go on record making it clear that I am a proud and freedom-loving patriot merely infiltrating your ranks.

On the one hand I no longer see any value in engaging with people like this and think we should defederate outright. On the other hand I see posts like this and realize we are this close to mentally breaking them and the completionist in me wants to see it through.

Let me just pop on my They Live sunglasses and give this post a reread

whether it’s true doesn’t matter because it fits my opinion of him
