Kinda glad I wasn't hit with a wave of Fourth of July posts from people I know.
The couple I saw were pretty toned down, which eh, I'll take that much compared to the past.
Letting down a bit of my mask and made a joke criticizing the US to on of my friends and they took it well.
And I also hung out with a couple of friends and one is usually pretty rah, rah about the US and yet they didn't really say much to that effect today.
Social media can be so cringe. I had been following an indigenous rights group and over time I've come to realize its kind of a lib page even though they do some radical positions like land back. And I didn't mind the fact that it is a lib page, but they posted some cringe shit about black people being colonizers and it like... ehhhh. If we're going to label black people like that because there are those who enthusiastically support the US and white supremacy then you're going down a slippery slope by labeling the entire group that way. Especially because there are groups of indigenous people who believe in assimilating with, or at least are ok with, colonizer culture. IDK, maybe I'm thinking about it too much, but I unfollowed the page. I have other indigenous rights pages that are much more intersectional.
