No matter what a retailer says about its climate goals, its main goal is to make you buy more clothes.

...

[Fashion brand Everlane] has signaled its commitment to the planet ... throughout the years, including its focus on using certified organic cotton and attempting to eliminate virgin plastic from its supply chain. Additionally, the company has taken the public inside its factories, publishing glossy-looking photos from its facilities in Vietnam, China, Italy, and other countries and tracking which ones use renewable energy and pay living wages.

For these and other reasons, the company mystified consumers last week, when it was sold to the e-commerce giant Shein, which ranked as the biggest polluter in fast fashion last year. Shein offers clothing, jewelry, home goods, and accessories, all for sometimes shockingly cheap prices — the true cost of which is its carbon-intensive supply chain.

...

Fashion magazines balked, asking if Everlane’s acquisition spells the end of the fashion industry’s sustainability aspirations writ large. But the sale of Everlane to this particular buyer should turn the inquiry around: Of what use are sustainability goals in the face of hyper-consumerism? Put another way: Was it ever the case that simply buying (more) different things would ever yield a more livable planet?

...

Point 16 in the joint statement:

[Australian and UK] ministers ... expressed their concern about the role of China's economic support in allowing Russia's illegal war to continue. They called on China to prevent its companies from supplying dual-use components that sustain Russia's defence industrial base.

Ministers urged China to cease support to Russia's war effort and, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, with a particular responsibility to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, to use its substantial influence with Moscow to help bring an end to the war.

...

Dual-use items, including electronic components or satellite imagery, do not meet the threshold for lethal weapons but are still supplies that assist Russia in bolstering its industrial base.

In a subsequent press conference, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said the talks emphasised both Australia and the UK’s “unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unjustified invasion”.

“We will stand with Ukraine, and we will continue to do so for as long as it is attacked,” she said.

...

The Australian and UK Ministers noted the increasing scale and severity of hostile activity by states, their proxies and non-state actors. This includes cyber activities undertaken by China-based information security companies, and recent attempts by Russia to interfere in democratic elections through its proxy organisations, the Social Design Agency and ANO Dialog.

The commander of the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade (formerly the Oplot Battalion), Colonel Ramil Faskhutdinov, has been named a Hero of Russia, the Defense Ministry announced.

...

The specific actions for which Faskhutdinov received the award were not disclosed. In late 2025, the colonel personally briefed President Vladimir Putin on the capture of Myrnograd in the Donetsk region.

iStories describes Faskhutdinov as “one of the main ‘zeroers’” in the Russian army. The outlet also said relatives of soldiers from his brigade said he personally sent wounded troops on crutches into assault units to dispose of them. Separately, some servicemen reportedly said Faskhutdinov had ordered them to execute fellow soldiers.

Astra, a Russian independent news outlet, has reported that the 5th brigade runs a torture camp for its own troops on the grounds of an abandoned mine in Ukraine’s Donetsk region. Astra also reported that commanders extort money from the troops sent there and then dispatch them on “human‑wave assaults.”

German missile maker Diehl Defence is hoping to bring production of Ukraine’s Flamingo cruise missile to Germany as the continent races to acquire the ability to hit targets deep inside Russia.

Chief executive Helmut Rauch said that his company was planning talks in the coming weeks with Fire Point, one of Ukraine’s leading weapons manufacturers and the maker of a new FP-5 cruise missile that claims a range of more than 3,000km.

“We are in discussions about how we could work together,” Rauch told journalists at the ILA Berlin Air Show. “I think this could really happen,” he said. “In the next few weeks, we have several meetings regarding this and then we will see.”

...

Diehl, which makes the Iris-T air defence system that has proved vital for Kyiv in fending off Russian missile attacks, in April signed a technology agreement with Fire Point but had not previously disclosed any details.

Rauch said that Diehl could offer Fire Point a much more advanced seeker — the part that detects a target and guides the weapon to it. He also pointed to Diehl’s more sophisticated system design and decades of experience.

...

Moscow’s widespread use of ground-launched missiles in Ukraine — in addition to stationing long-range weapons in the Baltic Sea enclave of Kaliningrad — has spurred European nations to acquire or develop their own similar capabilities in a move they see as essential to deterring Russian aggression.

Speaking on a visit to Kyiv last month, German defence minister Boris Pistorius said the “technological leaps here in Ukraine are remarkable” and that joint ventures were being explored for weapons, including long-range drones, air defences and electronic warfare.

That's an absurdly weird propaganda site and has nothing to do with news.

US sends troops to Israel. North Korea and China send troops to Ukraine in support of Russia. It's a weird and crazy world we're in.

Will those democratic governments abolish their own death penalty before dealing with Iran?

In European countries and many other democracies around the globe, the death penalty has long been abolished.

she didn’t say a word about the civilians killed by those war criminals.

Two things can be wrong at the same time. What you are doing amounts to whataboutism. Justifying one crime by another doesn't make sense.

Who is this "well known propagandist"?

You are telling complete bs without any proof.

The "Tank Picture" circulated around the globe (except in China, where it is banned), and is now widely held to be one of the most recognized photos ever taken ... Because of that photo, he [Jeff Widener] was nominated finalist for Pulitzer Prize in 1990 ... In November 2016, Time included the photograph in "Time 100: The Most Influential Images of All Time". Clear words by a former Tiananmen protester:

Tiananmen dissident lambasts China on massacre anniversary

On the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Wu'er Kaixi, who played a leading role during the 1989 protests, spoke about his personal loss and nearly four decades in exile ...

"China was allowed to join the World Trade Organization and the global trade system because it was hoped that this would lead to a civil society that would eventually give birth to democracy," he said ... "Japan, the US and every other country seem to have misunderstood China," he told DW. "They think China is led by ideology, by nationalism or communism, but that's wrong. The Chinese Communist Party is a criminal group that is driven by profit" ...

And while the Chinese leaders "talk about rejuvenation" and how taking control of Taiwan will benefit the nation — and a public fed on propaganda is roused to the party's aims — the reality is quite different, Kaixi said. "They do not care about rejuvenating China; all they care about is adding another zero to their bank balances,” he said. "They are nothing but common thieves" ...

The crackdown, when it came on the night of June 3–4, 1989, was sudden, with thousands of troops storming Tiananmen Square with tanks and armored personnel carriers, firing live rounds. China has never provided a full death toll, but rights groups and witnesses say the figure could run into thousands ...

Tank Man. It’s not an image, it’s a video,

It's also a photo, apparently by a photographer of AP. It's been circulating in some threads these days: https://www.jeffwidener.com/

a mention to the official figure from death certificates

It happened in China.

crimes that are not confirmed by international observers

There is undeniable evidence for these crimes, confirmed also by the links in the article as well as many other sources.

In Novermber 2025, dozens of families from across India gathered in the capital, New Delhi, to call on authorities to bring their loved ones home as Russia recruits Indians as cannon fodder on the Ukrainian front.

The [Indian] men had been caught up in a shadowy network that brought them to Russia, promising legitimate jobs, but later sent them to fight on the front lines in Ukraine ... A common theme emerged: The men had all been forced to sign contracts in Russian that they did not understand and then sent to fight in Ukraine with little to no training.

China is normalising its military presence in the Indo-Pacific Region, as per the Australian Strategic Institute:

... For Australia and its partners, the challenge is not simply responding to individual Chinese activities but understanding how they fit into a broader pattern of gradual expansion. A port visit here, a survey mission there, a new security agreement with a Pacific Island state –each may seem manageable in isolation. But together they point to a long-term effort to shift the balance of presence and influence across the Indo-Pacific ...

China’s [military] presence in seas and ports far from its coast is becoming routine. The frequency of its appearances has been rising for about a decade ... This is another example of China’s familiar tactic of salami slicing, seen also, for example, in its progressive attempts at dominating the South China Sea: it takes a little, then a little more, and hopes eventually to have the whole salami ...

China will build presence incrementally and regional actors will respond through surveillance, partnerships and operational activity. The greatest danger lies in cumulative friction. Individual incidents may be manageable, but repeated interactions will increase the likelihood that one is misinterpreted or escalates beyond initial intent ...

Philippines slams China posturing in the West Philippine Sea

Mamamayang Liberal (Ml) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima has castigated China's "entitled bully" posture , which has once again placed it at odds with the country’s position in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) ... De Lima and her fellow members of the House minority bloc hailed the Philippine Coas Guard's (PCG) tracking and challenging a China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel drifting just 50 nautical miles off the coast of Zambales (in the Phliippines).

"China’s refusal to acknowledge our radio challenges while within our [the Philippines'] Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) demonstrates the behavior of a superpower who feels entitled to bully others," added the House senior deputy minority leader.
