As a transgender woman, I have personally experienced that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) -- which includes estrogen as well as testosterone blockers -- slowed down my facial hair growth and thinned out of my facial hair. So testosterone levels play a small part in facial hair growth. However, I doubt that the levels within a cisgender male would vary enough to cause any significant changes.

It's probably just that there's a fair bit of hair growth that happens before the hairs reach the surface of your skin, like a millimeter or two. When you shave, it only has to grow back enough to pop out over the surface of the skin. If you were to pluck a hair with a pair of tweezers, it would take at least a couple of weeks to grow back. I have done exactly that many times, so at least for me that's the time frame.

Reminds me of an early application of AI where scientists were training an AI to tell the difference between a wolf and a dog. It got really good at it in the training data, but it wasn't working correctly in actual application. So they got the AI to give them a heatmap of which pixels it was using more than any other to determine if a canine is a dog or a wolf and they discovered that the AI wasn't even looking at the animal, it was looking at the surrounding environment. If there was snow on the ground, it said "wolf", otherwise it said "dog".

Everyone's gonna act like they don't care until scammers are calling your loved ones with your face and your voice and stealing your life savings. Or people are working remote jobs using your voice and face and government ID and you have to pay the taxes for it. Or whatever.

This is a new front of identity theft. The laws that are crafted now are going to decide how awful this new technology will be able to be exploited. You may not care about a voice actor from a video game having her voice stolen, but the impact of decisions surrounding this stuff is going to affect us all at some point very soon.

It's odd that razor sharp teeth is kind of the gold standard for a scary animal, but honestly, getting swallowed whole and slowly digested by stomach acid sounds so much more horrific. I'd so much rather a T-Rex eat me than that.
