... it conditions people for 15 minute cities and other forms of tyranny Are you saying you think the idea of having all important services within 15 minutes is tyranny?

Meditation/mindfulness can really help If you get stuck ruminating about something and/or are dealing with anxiety. It was a fad recently, but there's some real science behind a multitude of benefits from it. There's a free app called Medito and I found the Headspace Guide to Meditation to be very informative.
I think the be careful what you do on Facebook is implied. He's highlighting something that's less expected, where you may need to be careful what you do on Windows systems.
I guess most methods of attack on a FOSS projects are independent of the country of origin. But, I could still see them being forced to do things they don't want in the US, without being able to tell anyone. Hopefully if that ever happened it wouldn't be too hard to detect, but you never know.
People gotta earn money to survive, I don't blame the employees for this. And this is not just a case of Meta's privacy being bad. This is close government involvement with potentially serious impacts and implications across all US based platforms.
It's not “USA bad, so product bad”, it's the concern that the US government can do a lot more to US based projects and you probably wont know untill it's too late.
It's clearly both. When there is this attitude from some people that men are dangerous and should be feared, while another group welcomes them in, it's pretty obvious which one has more draw. Valid and reasonable criticism is extremely important, but labeling them as the scum of the earth isn't that. The worst part is the message it gives to young impressionable boys who are just learning about this stuff.
I know this kind of attitude can feel righteous and satisfying. But, it's exactly the kind of attitude that drives people towards pieces of shit like Tate. I'm not saying you have to bend over and make assholes feel welcome, but having a little empathy can go a long way. Pushing them away so aggressively just contributes to a bad feedback loop.
Yeah, I've been there. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.
I don't remember it like that at all. I saw lots of complaints about the privacy impacts and how ineffective it would be.
Why shouldn't young children be able to use Discord? I have kids and want them to be able to use it to chat while they play games with friends and with me.
I'll try to keep them to only chatting with people they know until I think they're mature enough.
I was confused because it's such a bad take... That's not what 15 minute cities are about. That's just the dumb conspiracy theories.
