An Ecuadorian human rights group has called for a probe after “bombings, burning of homes, arbitrary detentions, torture, and threats against the civilian population” by the joint US-Ecuadorian military operation.

The answer is an unqualified 'No.'

The US can continue existing as a rapacious empire with or without Israel - it surely did fine for almost 2 centuries before Israel was created out of thin air by the Anglo-Americans - but the crimes of Israel would be impossible without US empire behind it.

Israel is not blameless. Blame it for its role in facilitating Western empire up to and including abetting genocide and wars of aggression.

But do not blame it for "corrupting" something that was never wholesome to begin with.

States are no longer the highest form of power globally. Power has shifted to wealthy individuals who work in groups and operate across borders.

In Iran, the U.S. and Israel are employing tactics used in Israel’s genocide in Gaza, the “War on Terror” and Trump’s recent attacks on alleged drug boats in the Carribean.

You watch these bespectacled pundits and pampered politicians babbling about war the way they’d talk about their plans to remodel their kitchen or take a trip to Paris, and you just know if actual war ever showed up on their doorstep they’d literally soil themselves.
