I knew the intro couldn't live up to the first season, but it's still pretty solid. Very fun in it's animation even if the song isnt as high energy

Translating art is still art. It requires cultural knowledge and contextual understanding to be done well, and no soulless bot can do that.

I'm not seeing it up anywhere yet

Keshaun Pearson wrote this excellent piece about Musk's fuckery in Memphis. There isnt much new here to people that have kept up with the issue, but he does a good job of putting things in the wider context of class and racial stuggle inside and outside of Memphis. He's directly involved in the community response, and it's refreshing to see an article that doesnt dance around the wider implications for climate and social justice.

Dude... I saw that thread before it was deleted and it was 100% csam. It may not have happened IRL, but what those images depicted was csam. I wish i hadn't seen them and I'm glad the admin took action. This isnt some puritanical conspiracy against free speech. Just because the images were AI generated and there was no nudity, doesnt mean they didnt depict child sexual abuse. Because they did.

Nah that's a direct quote from a TN lawmaker.

Yo wtf you don't need to simp for a company building automatic killing machines. That shits existence is a threat to everyone but the wealthiest and most powerful.

No War But Class War

The y axis not starting at 0 doesnt make this misleading, it just makes it easier to see the trends. It would only be harder to see the movements with 80% of the y axis being useless "fill".

They always put those extra screws in there to throw you off.

My partner and I have a trip planned in about 1.5 weeks, bur cat is unfortunately sickly right now. I'm tasked with setting up a couple of webcams in her favorite spots so we can check on her while we're away.

Currently we have 1 basic webcam, two functioning Linux desktops, a couple old hard drives i don't need, a domain name I have grand plans for but have never used, and enough experience with docker and self hosting to be dangerous.

If you were to set up a quick and dirty pet cam with a minimal budget and about a week to buy everything and get it all set up, how would you go about it? I really want a solution requires as little fiddling and config as possible.

I know I'll need at least one more webcam, and I've been researching NVR software all night only to arrive back at idk-what-I'm-doing after hours of reading. I could potentially stretch my budget up to something like a Qnap TS-216G (which is as close to a good solution as I've found) since I've been wanting to buy a NAS anyways. The QVR software suite seems like a nice solution for easy setup, but I really dont need any advanced AI features. Even basic stuff like motion detection and video storage I could do without, although they would be nice to have.

I've never made any services available from outside of my LAN either. From what I've read in the past, Tailscale may be the simplest solution for that, but idk if it's suitable for this type of application.

Edit: I guess I never should have brought up that our cat is sick. Most of y'all seem to think that I'm neglecting my animal or something because I didnt go into detail about all of the care plans that we have in place for her. Her illness is long term and managed by medications. She doesnt have flare-ups or any acute symptoms that are likely to cause an emergency. We have friends that she likes that will be visiting daily to feed and water her, spend time with her, and give her medicine. This camera solution is really just a little something extra to make my partner and I feel better about being away from her.

AARON BUSHNELL 1999-2024

"I will be no longer complicit in genocide. I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it is not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal. Free Palestine. Free Palestine. Free Palestine."

I always get emotional when I think of Aaron Bushnell. He reminds me of so many of my radical brothers and sisters unable to live with the injustices so many accept as normal.

PS. I tried out the new alt text feature on Jerboa. Let me know if it has any issues!

Voting is Not Harm Reduction An Indigenous Perspective February 2020 – www.indigenousaction.org

Zine format printable PDF download: Voting is Not Harm Reduction Zine-FINAL-PRINT (9.8MB)

"When proclamations are made that “voting is harm reduction,” it’s never clear how less harm is actually calculated. Do we compare how many millions of undocumented Indigenous Peoples have been deported? Do we add up what political party conducted more drone strikes? Or who had the highest military budget? Do we factor in pipelines, mines, dams, sacred sites desecration? Do we balance incarceration rates? Do we compare sexual violence statistics? Is it in the massive budgets of politicians who spend hundreds of millions of dollars competing for votes?

Though there are some political distinctions between the two prominent parties in the so-called U.S., they all pledge their allegiance to the same flag. Red or blue, they’re both still stripes on a rag waving over stolen lands that comprise a country built by stolen lives.

We don’t dismiss the reality that, on the scale of U.S. settler colonial violence, even the slightest degree of harm can mean life or death for those most vulnerable. What we assert here is that the entire notion of “voting as harm reduction” obscures and perpetuates settler-colonial violence, there is nothing “less harmful” about it, and there are more effective ways to intervene in its violences."
