I mean you could just disregard their username. It's disregardable.

I may not have clearly stated what I meant. I wasn't trying to offer an opinion on your experience. My initial point was imply it is absolutely valid medical knowledge that nerve endings exist in the cervix. Whether or not a doctor acknowledges that or listens to their patients is entirely independent of that (unfortunately). I understand that as a separate issue, but at least modern medical science recognizes it.

Yeah, I'm sure that is frustrating.

[–] WR5@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (4 children)

That is a valid stance to take based on your history. I've acknowledged your personal experiences may differ. I was not trying to "cancel out" your viewpoint, the same way I don't think it would be fair to discount mine.

Sure I understand that, especially for your personal experiences. I also recognize this has historically been a huge issue. I work closely with doctors and nurse practitioners in women's health (L&D, urogynecology, etc.) and they all take it very seriously (they are of mixed genders). I think it depends on the area and expertise of the doctor, but this is an outdated mindset that is (in my experience) quickly becoming obsolete as more voices are raised and research is published. I'm just against the sweeping generalization of "doctors believe" or "doctors think" and am quick to call it out for clarification. It has been used to support people avoiding healthcare practioners or trusting modern medical science. Saying "my doctor was shitty because they don't listen to my concerns" is super valid and should be acknowledged, but "doctors don't listen to women" is not a fair representation.

I'm not sure what you mean by this; the cervix is known to have many nerve endings and is accepted medical knowledge.

What the fuck dude, I was having a good day.

Maybe he was hoping there would be a game of Squirt over that river?

You wear your watch on your sleeve? I think most people have their sleeves over the watch. /s

Why is it distasteful? They are indeed an example of an inbred family, albeit not from Texas.

Hello all! I am not a software developer, but am interested in game development and making my own games. After restarting due to switching PCs/Operating Systems, I was recommended to setup version control to keep track of changes and to share the project with a friend who is also interested in it with me. I've heard to steer away from Github from proprietary reasons and they have been stealing users code (?), and as recommended Codeberg.

My question really comes down to: could someone please explain or give instructions for how to set this up so I can easily make changes after each working session? I come from a product development engineering background where we have technical drawings where revisions are made, approved, and saved (Rev A, Rev B, Rev C, etc.) with documented changes between each revision of a single file/drawing. However, I don't understand setting up a project and navigating older/newer versions where there are hundreds of separate files all being updated and changing constantly.

Hey gang, I'm having trouble running this game. I have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super, 64GB DDR5 RAM, on a B650 motherboard. My issue is frequent crashing/freezing, meaning I can't play longer than a few minutes at a time. I have tried re-installing the game, Steam, the entire OS, and then fully wiping the drives to remove Windows dual partition and only installing Mint. Then I was pointed to the drivers, so I tried updating using the ppa(?) driver availability as Mint only offered the nVidia 550 through Driver Manager. I tried each of the separate drivers, rebooting between each load, and still having the same issue. For reference, I was able to run through character creator and early intro of the Streetkid after many failed attempts. But then I get to the ride-along with Dexter DeShawn which does not have skippable sections and takes too long. So the length of that conversation is too long before the game either freezes or outright crashes.

Any suggestions are welcome, it's really really annoying me and pretty disheartening after hearing how everything just works on Linux (other than competitive online games, which I don't really play anyway).

Edit to add: I also tried the different Proton versions available through Steam, where I purchased the game.

Several months ago I posted about building a new PC for gaming and got some suggestions for Linux in there. Well I got some specs and ideas, saved up some more money, and pulled the trigger in January to buy. After building, I loaded with Windows 10 thinking I'd start with something I knew and was off to the races. I had a few bumps early on with driver management, but after sorting those out I was gaming on Steam for a while with no issues. Every so often I'd get crashes in game (to be fair, I was playing Fallout NV which is notorious for this), freezes, and automatic restarts. Well, about two weeks ago my computer updated to Windows 11 which was annoying, but since that what my work laptop runs I wasn't too bothered. The next day when I pulled up a game, my sound wasn't working. I was troubleshooting with my headphones, game settings, a different pair of Bluetooth earbuds, but nothing changed. I played around and realized sound was just broken across all of Windows, and apparently this is a common issue? Couldn't watch videos, couldn't even do a test tone in settings. So, I thought fuck it, this sucks and removes a big part of games for me so I loaded a USB with Linux Mint and partitioned a drive for it. I'm currently looking at Mint installing on my PC and waiting to get back into a mess-free experience.

I recently switched over from console gaming to PC gaming. My Gamerscore on Xbox was around 185,000 over more than a decade. Excited to pick up games on PC that I have never played before, and revisit old games that I haven't played in a long time!

Hello all, I'm considering fully switching from console gaming to PC gaming. I have an outdated PC a friend helped me build from exactly 10 years ago, and it has never been upgraded. I currently have a Nintendo Switch and Xbox (360, One, and most recently Series X). I did this mainly because I liked physical games, such that I have kept boxes, manuals, and discs for my games. However, I have been getting more and more frustrated with console gaming as the years progress and am thinking of switching to fully PC, including emulation up to Switch of older game systems. I know nothing about building a PC, the one I had in college was for games technically but was not top of the line even then, and I mostly used it for torrenting, CAD modeling, and old emulation (up to Nintendo 64 at the time). I'm thinking of transitioning that fully to a NAS if possible as I build out my media library, and build a new one from scratch for gaming. Any advice on what a price range would be and components to look for would be appreciated! I see secondhand builds on Facebook marketplace or similar but don't have a good feel for if they are even good deals or not. For what it's worth, I will probably need new everything (hardware, case, and peripherals like mouse, keyboard, and monitors). So, if anyone could help guide to me what a good price I should be expecting would be and some benchmark specifications that I could keep an eye out, that would be lovely.

Edit: for what it's worth, I generally play games a few years after release when they go on sale, unless they came up on Xbox game pass or I received it as a gift to play. Additionally, I had an Oculus Rift hooked up to my PC but it struggled with many things on it, so I plan to upgrade that at some point with maybe the Valve Index system. That doesn't need to be an immediate buy as I'd rather my money go into the computer hardware itself first.
