At least for what I just posted this isn't a restriction. Its a recommendation. You can still use any other app. I thought its nice that they recommend the privacy friendly ones.

You actually don't need the -get anymore
Das kommt immer darauf an, was du von einem Kurznachrichtendienst erwartetst. Ich möchte einfach einen Dienst der quasi SMS nur mit mehr Sicherheit bietet. Dafür ist Signal super und deshalb nutze ich es auch ausschließlich für Kurznachrichten auf meinem mobilen Endgerät. Auf dem Schreibtisch Rechner benutzt halt sowas wie Matrix oder verschlüssle deine ePost mit dem GNU Privatsphäre Wächter, den du sowieso für all deine Nachrichtendienste verwenden kannst. Egal ob kurz oder nicht.
I personally use Librewolf. Its just a hardened version of Firefox so you don't have to do it yourself.
