Lots of people support Hamas. Don't be so reductive.

Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Grenada, Nicaragua, Iraq, Iraq again, Afghanistan, Benghazi, Syria. There are many many more, these are just off the top of my head.

The US has been invading countries without a congressional act of war for some time now. Unfortunately the precedent for a lunatic to do this has been paved by four decades of it.

A person acting like a Nazi in real life is still a Nazi in real life.

Spoken like a true northern greater galago.

All respect but saying that is reductive and is like saying that rushes, sedges, and grasses are all grasses because they are in the order Poales.

Being in the ginger order does not make a plant a ginger. They all share basal synapomorphic traits yes, but the similarities end there. That's like saying peaches, breadfruit, and cannabis are all roses.

Both the wind appendages and the plants look like they belong to the sunflower family fwiw.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Furry stuff at the bottom are wind dispersal appendages that are modified as the flower is fertilized and dehisces. They are attached to the seeds so they can be carried by the wind.

Edit: as you have already said, sorry.

They can send emails to their coworkers to communicate. They don't. I understand there might be reasons they rolled it out.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

The issue is they just triggered it without communication. That's a breach of respect.

Interesting. I'd almost rather buy a shit second phone for work before putting this crap on my phone. Especially when I run e/os, which it may not like.

~~This situation is the latter, not the former~~ edit: my response was confusing.

My sitch is personal phone/company info

My company just started requiring Microsoft Intune Company Portal app to use Teams and Outlook. From a friend in IT infosec at another company said the app can push apps, require certain settings, password requirements, or OSs, and can see a lot of stuff on your phone. I don't think this level of intrusion into my personal phone is warranted or ethical. Be warned. I'm just going to uninstall and suffer the internal political consequences.

I don't particularly think about Eve 6 at all. I don't love them, I don't hate them. I was listening to contemporary rock stations when Inside Out became their one and only hit. On December 19th (the sixth eve before Christmas), my family has decided to celebrate the totally contrived holiday of Christmas Eve 6. We are all in on it and think it is a fun thing to add to the Holiday season.

I wrote a poem to read to my family (won't share; it's awful)

I bought the album, we'll listen through the day.

I made cards (forgive the grammatical error)

I also bought another album on discogs that has an Eve 6 Christmas song on it, "First Noel (I Like Christmas)" it is not to my tastes whatsoever https://www.discogs.com/release/2656044-Kevin-Bean-The-Real-Slim-Santa

My dullard shame has been proclaimed.

Edit: OMG I forgot about Here's to Tonight. We are definitely ending the day with it. 🥴

Chargepoint is putting outrageous temporary hold charges on all charging stations. Probably some MBA fucking another business up.

Hi Person,

We’re writing to let you know about an important update to how payments are processed at ChargePoint stations.

As part of your use of ChargePoint services, a temporary hold charge of $50 for AC stations and $75 for DC stations will be placed on your payment method for each applicable charging session. Once the applicable charging session ends and the hold charge is removed, you will only be billed for the actual charging cost.

For more details, please see our FAQ: https://www.chargepoint.com/drivers/support.

Thank you, Team ChargePoint

As a widespread cultural phenomenon in the US, I dislike that Halloween is becoming aggregated to the rich neighborhoods. Perfectly good lower class neighborhoods that are exceptionally decorated for the holiday are soulless on the night.

Not bagging on trunk or treats or anything like thay. My mixed zone, mixed generation, vibrant neighbourhood is so cute on Halloween but then there is no real community engagement. It makes the holiday kinda sad and individualistic except for those lucky enough to have money. Another loosening the fabric of community in the US.

Just my two cents.

Edit: FWIW I dont blame parents for wanting to give their children the best Halloween experience by trucking them to such neighborhoods. The problem is not them, it is the wealth disparity.

Super frustrating the AI Chatbots are infecting my Firefox browser now. It looks like malware and pretty much acts like it since it cannot be disabled from the sidebar outside of closing this window. I like vertical tabs, but they require so many other options by default. Even more frustrating that the URL goes to a chrome browser link: chrome://browser/content/genai/chat.html

Alarms very heightened.

Upper middle class folks in my urban neighborhood in my city are buying golf carts to zip around the city. Primarily it seems to be a way to surreptitiously drink and drive while having friends and family in tow. The owners/drivers are typically easily seen with a beer in hand. It seems to fall along racial lines as only white communities would be able to skirt DUI laws in such broad strokes.

Now I am in a city park and one of these assholes drove a golf cart 200 yards in on grass and dirt directly to park directly at the playground. This seems like a clear, "It's only a problem when other people do it, I'm doing nothing wrong," scenario. Fucking hate these golf carts, especially with the Kei car bans, but primarily because of how they are used and abused. I'm definitely a proponent of alternatives to cars, but this application ain't it.

Shout out to businesses that email tracking information and link to their own systems instead of the package delivery service's tracking system. These third party tracking site plug-ins often lag behind the information provided to them by the delivery service's site.

Special shout out to those who hide tracking information behind a required account login when they could simply provide the tracking number in the email.

Most special shout out to sites that do not allow you to know anything about a particular order unless you click through to their site and log in. It makes tracking past orders a nightmare.

HestiaPi is the only purchasable open source thermostat that is mostly plug and play as far as my research has found. I'm looking to get rid of my Nest V1. I haven't had it on WIFI for 4 or 5 years because it wouldn't take my password after a version update around then. I did a hard reset after that and it is running its out if the box smart mode now.

My biggest concern with HestiaPi is that its GitHub looks stagnant. Does anyone have any experience with HestiaPi? Is it secure and stable? Are there any other projects that I'm missing out there? FWIW, I am not into home automation and don't want any solutions in that respect.

Three Bean Salad is a English Comedy Podcast that I like. They use a word as a springboard for discussion. It is a great show but it stopped me dead in my tracks. Moths are taking over the world. It is happening. Become lamp or gtfo!

The only time my neighbor starts a fire in their back yard is when there is a red flag fire warning. We don't have many of these warnings per year, like one or two. On these days, they have a fire without fail. Yeah, they're a libertarian. Loves Rogan and Musk. Fucking dangerous, these people. Adolescent contrarians have more functioning logic.

An MXR Dynacomp clone that I put together and painted. I named it Cladode because I was looking at an pickly pear cactus and their pads are botanically cladodes and look compressed. Anyways it was a fun project and it sounds great!

Her mom, a feral one who has avoided our capture, dropped Football on our porch one day and I invited her in. That was about 4 years ago.
