This is only looking at the surface level....

It's not that "war is bad" in this case. It's that people fear that it's a small jump from "the govt of Israel is bad for killing Gazans" to "Israel is bad" to "the idea of Israel is bad" to "Jews are bad".

No. The native American bit was for the "why don't Israelis just leave/give back the land?" people... Because after 70+ years people have grown up, worked hard, bought land, raised families, etc.

nobody I know in America would want to say "hey, I worked my whole life to (own my property, build my business, raise my family, etc) ... If the native Americans asked really hard I'd give it back" ...

But a lot of people are saying that the Israelis should just leave.

Edit. The other bit is that there are Muslims who live in Israel. There are Christians/atheists/etc who live in Israel as well.

Jews aren't welcome in SA, Iraq, Iran...

Concentration camp is not a good analogy for what's going on here

Link for the "literally admit" claim?

His words have always been to the effect of the reason we're not letting aid in is because hamas steals it from the people and lets them go hungry

Btw We still blame Bibi for not handling the war properly, only even agreeing to sit at the table for peace talks once he knew that trump would give him unlimited usage of weapons, and many other things.

Apologies in advance for the wall of text. We've had a lot of conversations....

Spouse is half Israeli with lots of family over there. I'm casually Jewish with AuDHD for context so we tend to see things really differently.

I personally don't like that religious countries exist in the first place. So I'm not only against Israel, but also most countries in that part of the world. "Just nuke that entire part of the world" has been mentioned quite a few times. So that's a bit of the conversation.

We tend to focus on the hostages when we talk about the war, and that Israel may be winning the ground war but it's losing the pr war.

We blame Bibi for keeping the war going and not making more surgical spy-type strikes. I used to say that he had one day to get the world behind him and say "look, this is what I've been talking about about!!!" That was all dismissed though when the first cease fire happened. Hamas broke it by sending some small numbers of missiles that got caught by the iron dome and Israel retaliated by sending 100x the number of missiles, killing several people. The news outlets all led with Israel sending the rockets and only briefly mentioned that Hamas struck first.

We blame Hamas for keeping all of their leaders in other countries and all of their weapons and missile silos in civilians backyards. Treating their citizens like shit and saying the only way their family is guaranteed to not go hungry is to join the military....

Just putting this out there .... If you're American and not native American. And native Americans were yelling "from sea to shining sea the native American tribes must be free" and started killing people, started saying how they want their land back and everything ..... How would that be treated?

I think Gene Parmesan made up for it .....

I had the same culture shock once. Worked on the corporate side of a fitness club that said, we ask if you could please limit taking at most one class per day during work hours. Because people would end up taking class after class.... It was a soft rule that most of the die hard class fans broke all the time with no issues.

Place before that, if you were >15 min late, you had to interrupt the CEO with whatever meeting he had and tell him why you were late. Suppliers, partners, negotiations, doesn't matter the meeting. This was a non customer facing corporate job in a company of like 100+ people that was like 50+ years old..

The drug episode where everybody on the ship plays the mind numbing game .... They are all immediately under the spell of it, but when the kids break it down it's literally just a machine that makes you feel good. There's no "oh this part hypnotizes you and changes your behavior immediately"

And the speed of it ... There's no "oh wow. This sucks I'm addicted to a game" ... It's literally "this is a cool game" to "let's kill data because he'll figure it out and stop us so we can't spread it to all the kiddos in Starfleet to take to their new ships.... And the instant detox was flashes of light??? Wtf??

At least the "two races, where one enslaves the other by selling it heroin disguised as medicine" episode showed people who were self aware enough to realize they were in a shitty condition.

The speed at which these super introspective people completely change without a second thought always pissed me off... And those are just the episodes I remember out of the blue.

Remind me. I did a rewatch a few months ago, and did it slowly over the course of a few months. ....

Wasn't that the second time that datas sentience came into question?

So.... Iirc you can shuffle all of the episodes in a library .... Not sure about cross library. I just have one for TV and one for movies.

I know you can definitely make a smart playlist for the shows you want to shuffle through and go from there. Like I have a bunch of a few episodic tv shows, added them through regex to a smart playlist and hit shuffle all the time.

That's why. My folks still have cable and pay for HBO. That's how me and my siblings are able to watch stuff we don't want to download on max :)

My dad jokes that hes happy he knows how to turn on his phone ... Now his TV since that's "too complicated"

How technical is your dad?

Also honestly. Sometimes it's a lot nicer to just push a button and have something come on.

One of the main reasons I use Plex is their random feature. "Wanna watch a syndicated episodic show and don't care which ep? Press random" vs other streaming services you have to actually choose an episode.

Tldr: my wife and I get into verbal fights quite often (once a month or so) I get over it in an hour and it takes her days. Both of us think that the other's timeline isn't normal. What's typical/normal?

I'm ADHD (my current therapist thinks it's AuDHD) so I'm prone to emotional deregulation and pretty crazy mood swings. I'm pretty sure my parents are somehow ND as well so I don't have the best basis. My wife is also ND, but it's audio processing not emotionally related

My wife and I get into fights and arguments sometimes over petty stuff. I feel I hear her out but it's difficult for her to listen to me straight through as I tend to take a while to get to my point. She interrupts me a lot with either snide comments or questions that if she just waited a sec I'd answer. This leads me to getting frustrated and raising my voice and yelling, which gets her pissed off and raises her voice and suddenly we're in a shouting match.

Eventually one of us gives up or realizes they're wrong and we end the fight and go to our separate (safe) areas.

After about an hour I feel I'm back to normal and can talk about other things. (We usually have something we need to do with our kids or work or the house that we need to communicate on).

My wife feels it takes her a day or two to come down from a fight so shes very short with me until that time, where I feel I can talk after an hour or so.... She feels that it's not normal to change in that short of time.

What do people think?

Having issues gathering vyvance, which is slightly working for me. A friend suggested that she has friends who can help get some from Brazil, where the DEA isn't down everyone's throat. Just curious about people's experiences

HELP!!!

I have three situations, all would be very helpful if I could manually update the mappings of individual files or albums. If this is the wrong sub/community, can you point me in the right directions?

  1. I have an album that i accidentally mapped to the wrong artist/album combination and now it won't let me change it because I also tagged it, even renaming doesn't help.
  2. I have an album where the 1st and 6th song switched during the mapping/renaming/tagging process and now, even if I rename the files and retag them manually using id3, both lidarr and plex think they're the wrong track
  3. I have an album that's not only a standalone album, but also a disc in a box set, I'd rather have it as part of the box set, but can't figure out how to unmap/remap the album to move it to under the box set, when I have the rest of the box set already set up properly

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Whenever there's a storyline with quark, they talk about money/latinum.

I remember in one of the next gen episodes that there was discussion about money and Picard said something about how they've moved away from money.

So do Starfleet get paid now?

Update: thank you for the quick responses. From what I'm gathering the tldr is that the following is the answer

  • Ferengi love for money/not being a post scarcity society by design
  • Bajorans being so near their slavery times and not post scarcity yet
  • Quark creating an atmosphere of camaraderie/gambling/upgraded replicators/actual food

All this requires some form of currency.

Hey all, just found this sub

Any recommendations for an electric razor to use on your head in the shower? I've been shaving my head with a Gillette simple razor for a few years now. But every time I change the blade I end up with way too many nicks and cuts.

Thoughts?

In the US, if you make a lot, are covered by a work retirement account or you contribute to a Roth, you can't deduct traditional ira contributions right?

So that money gets added to the rest of your traditional ira monies right? and then when you hit retirement age, you have to pay income level taxes on deductions on that already post tax money right?

Why get taxed twice? What's the benefit? +Not being able to touch it til retirement age.

Hi,

I'm looking for a case that not only has a screen protector that's not a glorified sticker. But also a way that has a magsafe back so I can use a magnetic wireless charger.

I've seen quite a few that's the former (my current one), a few the latter, but none that are both :(

Thanks!
