Body shaming sucks no matter what. And IMO making fun of penis size is toxic masculinity. That said it is speaking in a language that they understand and use, we have to stoop to speak to their base. I hate all of it :')

Wow there's an ICE Barbie? I knew about Patriot Barbie and pretty sure she owns that one herself. Idk be offended at human nature I guess for the impulse to dehumanize women they don't like... but they are also both awful so I don't particularly feel bad for them when they are actively trying to ruin lives.

Although I don't doubt they take it as a compliment either since for many of them a woman's value is proportionate to their looks.

You shall not bear false witness to your neighbor

That's literally all career Republicans do.

I haven't forgotten this comment! It is really hard, like I said I haven't found a substitute and it's my favorite genre I actively look it out.

Also I think it is really subjective but I did just watch a doctor who episode (2024 s1e4) titled boom that felt like a family friendly message and environment that I could see in black mirror. The plot not so much. You don't even need any context for the series as it is both early in the reboot and kind of a bottle episode. An alien travels space and time with a friend and lands in the middle of a battlefield wasteland on an alien planet and steps on a landmine.

If you like reading or can tell me more about what you like about black mirror I could maybe make more suggestions. For example I love media that, for lack of a better word, is political at the core. It wants to criticize something in our culture, or take it to an extreme and see what that might look and feel like.

Feed is a book by M.T. Anderson that gives a good example of this. I wouldn't say it is a favorite or anything, I read a lot, but worth checking out maybe read the sample

The Handmaid's Tale (book or series) is another

Weird I didn't see the second half of your comment when I first replied. You're absolutely right and I'm terrified. The social-political environment and economy that allowed the rise of the nazis in Germany have been happening in America for decades. There are so many parallels and then within 6 months in office a LOT of big stuff is happening really fast. Federal institutions completely gutted, harassment of the employees by their government, deportation of citizens, removing birthright citizenship, and now wanting a medical diagnosis for anyone who disagrees with them.

It is absolutely terrifying and I no longer feel safe sharing my opinion anywhere because I don't know how dangerous it will be in the future.

It also silences their voices and discredits anything they say so opposition don't gain more support as the GOP dismantle our democracy in front of our eyes.

Relationships will become more strained.

They are getting away with much bigger atrocities than this. People will absolutely be on board to suddenly have their trump-hating relative actually be mentally ill. Then you don't have to listen to anything they say because they are just crazy.

Even announcing trump derangement syndrome in an official setting so it can be in the news cycle for as long as they want is going to have a powerful impact on the personal, individual level much wider than what he has done this term so far really. Now anyone who disagrees with trump is crazy. That's just best case scenario.

The top 220 meme coin owners, many of whom are foreign investors, invited to a private dinner with the president of the United States. Businesses are buying and jockeying to be one of the favored few who also get a private audience with him if they are willing to buy millions of meme coins, not to mention a personal tour of the White House. But beyond the meme coins and private dinners, there’s also something else brewing behind the scenes. As I speak, Eric Trump and Don Jr. are getting into the action, jetting around the world building their own financial empire in the crypto business space. In Dubai, the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial Firm announced a joint venture capital firm backed by the government of Abu Dhabi that would invest $2 billion using Trump digital currency “Now, I know it’s hard to keep all these billions apart,” he added. “You got the $2 billion investment in Jared Kushner by the Saudis. You got $5.5 billion investment by other gulf nations in Trump properties. You got $2 billion here, another $5.5 billion there, another $2 billion here and pretty soon you are talking about serious money for the Trump family. This deal alone will generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the Trump family. So, that’s the ‘Art of the Deal’ with this president. Trump gets rich. You get screwed.”

I really miss that sense of dread the older episodes invoked. I can't seem to find anything else like it, not even the best of new black mirror. I'll take recommendations of any medium really. It's one of my favorite genres? Vibes? Idk.

Dude before trump was there a "face of x party"? That sounds like populist crap.

In this case the article is all about multiple people who faced suicidal ideation. Who they themselves attribute to all this doge bs. It isn't just job loss, or the fear and stress of it, but the job itself as well. The article covers multiple industries and sources. It is a fantastic article so I urge you to read it

First Gaming PC (lemmy.world)
submitted 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) by asteriskeverything@lemmy.world to c/patientgamers@sh.itjust.works

I have had playstation for a while, but aside from Petz, Rollercoaster tycoon, and the sims <4 I never had a pc that could handle games.

I was gifted a used custom gaming PC cuz the owner was getting a new one! I have an $80 steam gift card I'd love to spend on multiple pop culture classic games I've missed out on and can only enjoy on PC/Xbox.. my favorite are 3rd person rpg with exploration as an important element in learning about the lore/story. Some sort of reward for exploring thar isn't loot.

Games I loved

  • Control

  • Horizon zero dawn

  • Persona 5/royal Those three are S tier life changing, think about forever types

  • Bishop trilogy (2 is best @me bro)

  • P5 strikers

  • Persona 4 golden

  • Final fantasy, 7, 9, 10, 13, 15

  • Catherine Full Body

  • Alan Wake

  • Ni no Kuni2

  • The forgotten city

  • Until dawn

  • A plague tale 1 innocence

  • TLOU1

  • Uncharted 1-3

  • Portal 1 & 2

Meh

  • life is strange 1
  • TLOU2
  • Nier automata (ikr, wtf? )

Did not finish/Gave up for lack of interest

  • Mass effect 1 (and thus none of the sequels)
  • Little nightmares
  • Fallout 4
  • Cyberpunk 2077 and not for glitch reasons
  • Ghostwire

So far the only game I'm sure of is the fable series but I dont even know what version to get? It often gets confusing for older games for a newbie

Computer details: Intel i9, 32gb ram, and Nvidia GeForce rtx 2070

***Edit: deux ex

So I have access to the ps plus catalog. I'm really excited they have disco elysium the final cut, and dues ex mankind divided

My brain has muddled these two awesome franchise pop culture knowledge where I feel like I'm more or less able to go into either blind and I wanna preserve that! The thing is it's not really clear to me for either title if I'd be playing a sequel (or something that is better enjoyed with prior context)

So I guess my question is for these two games, what should ideally be the order placement? Even if I just watch a yt essay on a previous game I don't have access to just to have some good groundwork context.

I also am curious what games you discovered that is available through similar subscriptions. Were you pleasantly surprised? Just meet average expectations?

Here is the Opening Draft [01:32], which could serve as a trailer.

And his current project/upcoming video is the entire series of Power Rangers

Yeah sorry not your typical post here, I hope that's OK!

I'm thinking of getting this for my (14)nephew and my brother to play together. He used to play DND in the 80s and this game really sounds like it tries to honor a lot of the culture and whatnot of the games.

But... I haven't played anything like either of those and my brother is extremely busy with little free time and my nephew doesn't have as much free time as the average kid.

Is this a game that could still be enjoyable in small doses? Does it get overwhelming or stressful fast for most people who don't play games nearly as long or as intense as this? For context they play a lot of match style games but my brother loved the original assasians creed.

And if not or for some reason you have another suggestion I'd love to hear it because at the very least this game sounds good to me and I'm interested in what other games it's fans like that I could also check out. :)

Ya'll jealous of my black 08 prismacolor fine line marker and pilot precise v7 rt.

Okay what the fuck is that last one? Why does it sound like a sports car marketed to males 14-26?

Is there a really popular product, technique, or otherwise viral trend that you tried and it fell short somehow?

What was it, what were your expectations, and what was the result?

(LOL no shame, totally posting this in the makeup community if I can find it)

I love how far against mainstream Radcliff has gone post HP. And this is just delightful regardless

What is an old show you think is great and really doesn't get mentioned enough? Why should someone watch it?

Hope mildly witchy stuff qualifies. At least while things start gaining momentum. I have a lot of those!
