This community can be whatever it wants to be. If you want to advocate for violence you are free to do that elsewhere in the fediverse. Just not here.

I'm sure this won't go anywhere but let's get this party started. Accepting large amounts of solicited or unsolicited gifts, particularly by invested parties, is highly unethical. SCOTUS is the highest court in the land and must be held to a higher standard than other courts, not a lower standard. This is an appropriate response to the news of Thomas and Alito accepting millions of dollars in gifts from people with interests before the court. Failing to recuse themselves from relevant cases and report the gifts is absolutely grounds for impeachment.

It can take time too. One of the ways rich people skirt taxes is paying lawyers to drag things out in court. IRS doesn't just have to hire new people to do complicated audits on rich people, they also have to pay lawyers to enforce their findings in the courts. Ramping up new agents to handle the audits and going through any court procedures can take years.

This is the first time I've seen this still used as a meme and it's fantastic. Two thumbs up, also, fuck Rudy Giuliani.

Fantastic, I know this probably won't go anywhere but this is the right thing to do regardless. SCOTUS needs to be held accountable to the American people for their actions. We grant them extraordinary power and that must come with extraordinary accountability. Holding them to a lower standard than any judge in a lesser court is ridiculous. The higher the court, the higher the standards should be.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm not even 40 and I seem to recall more bugs, more rabbits, more birds, more everything around. But now it's all roads and lawns and warehouses and parking lots. It reminds me of a character from C.S. Lewis's "That Hideous Strength" who wanted to replace all trees with artificial trees, with clockwork birds in their limbs.

I like to remember though that while biodiversity is shrinking something will survive. Scientists think that this planet has hosted life for over 3 billion years. There is no indicator that we have fucked things up enough to destroy all life. Something will live on and reproduce and it's children's children will inherit this planet for another time.

Love you all, and thanks for all the fish!

I think you're right, ratios with high/low examples given maybe.

I am a little biased because I've been using Debian professionally for many years now but we don't deserve Debian. It is fantastically stable and reliable and makes an excellent platform for running your services off of. If you are at all interested in offering some time and energy to the open source community, consider adopting a Debian package!

Wish that this somehow translated to the people in charge of the shitshow being replaced, but I'm pretty sure it's the workers who will suffer instead. This failure is 1000% on an executive culture of "cut corners so line goes up", not the thousands of people who actually build the darn things.

Thanks for posting this, it's important people catch more than just the headline. This is clearly another example of proton delivering on their promise. Fucking headlines gonna headline.

I know it's not really gonna change anything but it's really nice to hear that someone said it to those fucks.

What are your thoughts. I've been looking to get off YNAB4 for ages. Anyone have some experience with this or other recommendations?
