Apple TV has been reliable for many years. Don't even have an iPhone or iPad anymore but the OS gets the fuck outta the way and it probably has the least spyware of all the commercial options.

Building your own with like, a Pi or a PC is the best option if you mainly have pirated content.... If you stream anything that option isn't great because your device won't pass all the DRM checks to play higher definition/4k stuff. (Someone correct me but last I looked into it this was still true)

Right but if there is a FlatPak, that's usually the easier option

I've updated an Arch install after not being used for 2 years. I don't think there were any issues.

I've experienced far more issues upgrading to a new major release of an apt based distro though...

The system files aren't writable, instead you download a new system image when you want to update. No dependency hell or weird issues because these system images are all tested. Your system also keeps one or two old ones around and if by some chance something does go wrong you just select the old one at boot.

Downside is you're more limited on installing software. You can force install things the traditional way but that kinda defeats the point. Instead you have to use things like FlatPak or AppImages which covers most GUI apps you could want. For command line apps you will have to use something like DistroBox.

It's a trade off but for casual desktop users it is super stable and pretty simple. Updates come out daily (depending on distro) and they just get all their software from the software center app with a nice GUI.

Latest model pushed it south a bit, of course that just means Cape Coral and Port Charlotte are under the barrel

Really fine dust. Just a fuck ton of it. Finest you can get. Even better if you can make a huge plume of dust out of it.

And much worse managed I bet

[-] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 12 points 2 days ago

Nice. I am voting anyway cause there's some important amendments in my state so might as well tick that PSL number up one

Crab ass mentality. You should be asking why you get paid so little not keeping everyone else down

And the fast food shit is probably about as skilled as packing Amazon boxes the fuck you on about

What a shit comic. Just top to bottom utter shit. Irregardless of political leaning. This is just the boomer version of "Ah see I've drawn my candidate as the Chad wojack, and I've drawn yours as soyjack."

I'm actually not afraid of printing things larger than a few square inches on the bed.... Waited way too long for this. Tightening up the eccentric screws on the bed carriage so it doesn't wobble also helps.

Lots of stringing but as I understand that's normal for TPU. Printed at 225⁰C on a 30⁰ bed, stock Ender 3 S1. 0 retraction, 0.93 flow, 35mm/s for most speeds

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. military launched a secret campaign to counter what it perceived as China’s growing influence in the Philippines, a nation hit especially hard by the deadly virus.

The clandestine operation has not been previously reported. It aimed to sow doubt about the safety and efficacy of vaccines and other life-saving aid that was being supplied by China, a Reuters investigation found. Through phony internet accounts meant to impersonate Filipinos, the military’s propaganda efforts morphed into an anti-vax campaign. Social media posts decried the quality of face masks, test kits and the first vaccine that would become available in the Philippines – China’s Sinovac inoculation.

Reuters identified at least 300 accounts on X, formerly Twitter, that matched descriptions shared by former U.S. military officials familiar with the Philippines operation. Almost all were created in the summer of 2020 and centered on the slogan #Chinaangvirus – Tagalog for China is the virus.

Sorry it took 35 minutes over my promised timeframe. My fault. I should've been keeping up my Ansible config not bumbling around manually. Then I would've known that I needed to uncap pict-rs' memory limit. Ah well we got there in the end.

0.19.4 mostly changes things in the backend, but there are a couple notable user features:

  • You can now see all media you've uploaded and delete what you wish (only affects media uploaded after the upgrade)

  • Better federation with Mastodon and other similar software, all posts are tagged with the community name (in the background, you won't see it) so that Mastodon users can see them.

  • Vote totals now have settings. You can see a total (Upvotes minus downvotes), both seperate, or a percentage.

You can see the full changelog here.

As always, thanks for being a member of The Lemmy Club.

If you’d like to help contribute to our ongoing costs, or would like to show some appreciation, you can at OpenCollective: https://opencollective.com/thelemmyclub

This instance is funded primarily out of my own pocket with no return whatsoever. The costs aren't too high (~$250/yr) but community donations are always very appreciated. At the moment, we're about 10% community funded. Either way, The Lemmy Club isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
