It's more of an informed host and an uninformed host.

The parasites are the corps. Some of us know that we're the product and we do what we can to mitigate that. But there's not a real feasible way to opt out of society. People gotta eat. People gotta sleep. They gotta provide for their families. They gotta have shelter. They gotta figure out ways not to freeze to death. Ways to stay healthy.

Unfortunately true. But the only reason they can do that is because they'll get tax payer money for a bailout.

Too little too late. I'm not buying books from Amazon.

I have some gripes with the Boox tablet I have and I have never owned a kobo reader (though I do hear very good things about them).

My main complaint at this point is that I don't like that it requires so many proprietary apps that need to connect to the internet. You used to be able to remove pretty much all of them. But now you are forced to keep some or the device won't boot.

I did find that it's pretty much impossible to brick the thing because it just reloads the firmware if it errors out.

And yeah I suppose you could just go and block those apps from the internet on your router so they can't send or receive information.

But for an android device running an outdated android version I'm not sure it's worth it to spend the $400 or so on a device that lacks such control when Kindles exist and can be jail broken.

I can't say (having owned one) that I would ever buy another one.

You can stop hitting them. They're already dead.

But seriously this was a great breakdown.

The rich have it going both ways. They have convinced a subset of the lower classes to fight amongst and blame each other. Meanwhile they very shortdightedly are maximizing profits (not from the lower classes anymore because they have essentially bled us dry) but from other rich people who want to invest to maximize profits.

They have forgotten that the only way capitalism remains sustainable over time is if they continue to both provide products and services lower class individuals will spend money on, and if they continue to pay those lower class individuals money so they have money to spend. Right now they're busy grifting each other and our government is too stupid to look to the future, realize that the bubble has to pop sometime, and realize what that will mean for the market, the tax system, the tax payers, and the populace at large.

This is class warfare for profits over literally everything and it is going to crash the economy probably sooner rather than later.

I have found that if I don't focus on the person talking it helps. But I still write things down.

Tracking, and the ability to house that data opening the company housing it up to breaches that leak that data.

They probably have to do so as part of their job. A lot of newsworthy stuff still (unfortunately) happens on twitter or is posted there.

Shutup10++ by O.O Software works very well, and is a free (but not FOSS) utility. It works on both Windows 10 and 11.

The handy ratings system they use and explainations of each toggle and what it does are useful and make it very user friendly.

Listen. That e-ink display I've got tucked away in a screenshot and an open tab is important and I will look at it later and decide whether I want to do that project.

It's wasn't an indictment on you or anything. I tried to click what I thought was a link, figured there was a mistake and then went looking for the actual article to get some context.

Since it was a 404 article I read and I know they do paywalls (and I sub to them so I don't get the paywalls) I didn't want to share that link because people might not be able to view it.
