Yep, exactly. I show my id to a bartender and they're not permanently saving a copy of it and distributing it to anyone who will pay them for it.
Tracking, and the ability to house that data opening the company housing it up to breaches that leak that data.
I haven’t looked too much into this, but I’m thinking of a system closer to a bouncer that verifies users at the door, but allows them to be anonymous individuals once inside.
Maybe a service that could verify a user at the browser level and provide a token akin to kagi’s search token
