I made a live wallpaper using an Android app called Magic Fluids (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.magicfluids) that is fully black, but creates a flame effect every time I tap the screen or slide my finger across it. Yeah, edgy and tacky AF, but it really is a pretty cool effect and I've been using it for years, so whatever.
So, no booting into Windows until this is fixed then? Fine by me. Hell, might actually make me uninstall it completely and free some disk space...
Next step: sue the power companies for providing electricity to the bad, nasty pirates, their landlords for allowing the egregious acts of piracy on their property, and their mothers for not raising them right... /facepalm
Warning: non-transparent walls, window blinds and door locks prevent lawful interception and surveillance - how are the authorities supposed to know you're not doing something naughty in there?
The wildest part is that he's surprised that Mastodon peeps would react negatively to their posts being scrapped without consent or even notification and fed into an AI model. Like, are you for real dude? Have you spent more than 4 seconds on Mastodon and noticed their (our?) general attitude towards AI? Come the hell on...
If teachers could brainwash kids to the point of changing their sexual orientation, wouldn't all schoolchildren become well-read, polite and clean well before they turn trans or gay?
Separately from that, it drives me mad how warped the idea of "consent" is in Windows (and in tech in general). "Later" is not the opposite of "Yes" goddammit!
Imagine sexual consent was similarly warped: Hey Becky, you wanna have sex? You can only answer "Yes, right now!" or "Maybe later," and I'll keep asking you FOREVER. So, what will it be?
Another revolution in battery tech? Man, is it Friday already? Look how time flies...
The phrase "free speech platform" sounds like a giant, enormous dog whistle. Which is a damn shame, because I used to enjoy that place, and now I'm not sure I will anymore... Don't want to jump to conclusions, but is there ANY self-described "bastion of free speech on the internet" that is not a cesspool full of awful people? Just one?
I'm a white, heterosexual cis male in my 40s not living in the US, so this does not affect me in any way, shape or form directly, but it still feels just icky, unnecessary and tone-deaf. Guess I'll post photos of my succulents and my goofy dog just on Lemmy from now on, bummer...
The solution here would be to mandate full symmetry: if you require muliple steps and confirmations to UNsubscribe or cancel, you must have the exact same steps to subscribe too. I think it would fix this problem very quickly
A step in the right direction, but not nearly good enough. They should be paid for all the time they are required to follow instructions by their employer - basically from the second they leave the locker room in their uniform, right until they dress back into their private clothes after finishing work.
That's how it worked when I was working in automotive industry way back when (the clock in/clock out terminal was right next to the locker room door), and that's how it should work for flight attendants, pilots and everyone else too. Everything else is labor theft IMHO.
