There was already an entire cottage industry of channels just reposting other people's animal content for views, I don't see why they need to add AI narration on top of the clips

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 3 points 5 hours ago

I wonder what's happening with those remakes now that James McAffrey is dead.

The first 2 Max Paynes are pretty cinematic too

F.E.A.R. belongs on any list of cinematic shooters

An increasing percentage of animal-related shorts seem to be reposted content with an AI narrator spouting completely made-up bullshit clearly written by someone for whom English is a second language at best

One video mashed together several random videos featuring the same type of animal while the narration tried to pass it off as some heart-warming clickbait story about one individual animal

wtf

Noticed this while I was going through bank statement .pdfs on my computer. What would Co-Pilot even do with those????

At least Co-Pilot turned out to be easy to uninstall. This was a real sneaky move though, since it's not like it showed up after a Windows update, instead it just silently installed itself on my fucking computer. Also, just the sheer fucking gall to make it the first option when you right click on anything

windows-cool

I foolishly assumed Microsoft wouldn't bother pushing AI as hard onto Win10 since they're dumping it soon. At first I panicked and thought this was Recall, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's coming next

I just never really owned anything that used MicroSDs until I started using smartphones by which time I feel we were well beyond 1GB sd cards. Not sure where I even got this 1GB card from or what I used it for 🤔

The first USB sticks I saw had like 128MB of storage

Yeah, obviously. The main benefit of having a natively supported kart racer on PC would be an active online multiplayer scene though.

(Yes, you can play emulated MK8 online with emulated wireless local multiplayer but that has a very limited player base and is prone to crashing and other jank)

I found a 1 GB MicroSD card stuck in a full-size SD card adapter while rummaging through a desk today. How adorable

Didn't even realize MicroSD cards ever came in such small sizes

Anyway, I met this guy who lived in my town through one of these. His handle was "Violator". I asked my mom to bring me to his house to hang out. She drove me, a teenager, to where this 35 year old man lived in an RV behind his parents house.

I'm guessing he took his name from this character michael-laugh

"Mom, can we have Mario Kart on PC?"

[–] doublepepperoni@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yes. Leipäjuusto (literally bread cheese) is like the only uniquely Finnish type of cheese that I can think of. Very mild and very squeaky

Also, to any anglophones reading, the j is pronounced like y, so it'd sound like "yuusto" to your ears

Why even save receipts if there's no fucking way to do text searches on them? It's a fucking supermarket, people go there every day or even multiple times a day.

That's a lot of fucking receipts to comb through if, say, an item you bought ~six months ago broke and you need to get it replaced monke-rage

The search function was the only way I even found the right receipt the previous times I had to return something

These assholes had the balls to defend this bone-headed move with this logic:

Tällä hetkellä digikuittia on päivitetty niin, että hakutoimintoa ei ole saatavilla, sillä analyysien perusteella asiakkaamme ovat käyttäneet kyseistä toimintoa melko vähän, Kiljunen sanoi.

We've recently updated digital receipts so that the search function is no longer available because our analyses have indicated that our customers have made fairly little use of said function, Kiljunen said.

On average most people rarely call the fire department so we should just shut those down too

Garnet/Dagger almost has the same exact hair as Tifa for most of the game

In all fairness, all three had very different personalities and even classes

Having to toggle each provider off one by one, meanwhile the big dumb Confirm All button just sits there waiting for you to accidentally click on it after you're done fiddling with the settings- FUCK

Cid from Final Fantasy 9 was 35?! THIS GUY, with the steely grey beard and glorious regal moustache?! He's clearly 20 years older than that!

As an adult I thought it was kind of funny that Steiner, at 33, is the designated doddering fussy comic relief old man of the party but this is just nuts.

I keep being confounded by the way Japanese media treats age. 6-21 is prime adventuring age, you're practically done at 25 and afterwards you should just shuffle off to a retirement home

Apparently some people are convinced this is a real thing that will be announced any minute now to celebrate the game's 25th anniversary. I looked into it and there seem to have been some accidental leaks in the past from Nvidia and the Epic Game Store that have suggested some kind of FF9 project is in the works. Some Industry Insiders™ have also "confirmed" that it exists. There's also some sort of cartoon set in FF9's world supposedly being made.

A lot of the things people have touted as evidence of Square Enix working on a remake recently seem to be just tweets or merchandise announcements simply related to the 25th anniversary though.

I haven't really cared about whatever they've been doing with FF7 but I'd be curious to see how they'd handle a FF9 remake. I'm kinda dubious about SE being willing to invest the time and money for a full modern remake though. FF7's popularity dwarfs 9's and it still wasn't enough to make Rebirth sell to SE's stupidly high expectations. Didn't FFXVI underperform too?

Got these earbuds for a little over six euros from AliExpress. They sound very nice for the price, I love the Y2K transparent skeleton aesthetic and most importantly for me, the earbuds can be detached from the cable, so if it breaks you can just get a new one for a few bucks. I've had to toss dozens upon dozens of earbuds over the years due to faulty cables so I really appreciate being able to swap them

Edit: You can also plug in Bluetooth adapters into the cable connectors, which is pretty cool. The adapters seem to be a bit expensive though so you'd probably want one of the fancier models

If you were willing to spend a bit more in the 20-30 dollar range, you'd probably be able to get really nice Chinese earbuds but I just needed something cheap for backup and these do very nicely

I was at the produce aisle in the supermarket buying potatoes when an old man pulled up to one of the digital scales with a shopping cart laden with the cheapest processed meatballs you can get. He then proceeded to weigh every single container, either to make sure they contained the promised 360 grams or hoping some of the boxes had extra meatballs in them

The video in question is a collection of clips from a heavily-accented voice bank a bunch of cheap Chinese bluetooth speakers use.

I found this reply extra annoying since it was in response to another comment that was sincerely wishing well for the lady that recorded the voice clips

Apparently Chinese people live in villages while Taiwan has metropolitan areas. Also China is an oppressive police state where the thought police will round up and execute your entire family line if you ever even look at a VPN

This reminds me of that old Best of the Worst episode where the gang watches an instructional tape intended to teach Cantonese speakers how to log onto AOL. The joke they make is that the voice actor was probably forced to read his lines at gunpoint

The 90's 'tude and constant sexism and horniness is just dripping off every page in these old gaming mags classic
