When you configure Apple Pay you are still proxying to visa Mastercard though right?

At the end of the day all plastic currency is hosted on Amex visa or MC

It’s crazy there’s no open banking

When you say digital wallet, I have Apple Pay but that’s just a layer between payment and my Mastercards

Is there something I could get that’s widely accepted?

In fact all payment portals I’ve seen demand a visa mastercard

Ever thought about how strange it is that this duopoly handles such a large volume of transactions?

What are we doing to combat this?

Oooh an RT link

Let me just leave my common sense by the door and just accept everything here written as fact

On one hand I want to foster discussion so I don’t mind older posts being buried.

However it would be good to have the space organised by text books perhaps, but this may eventually get stale

I was thinking tags would be useful but i don’t know effective it would be to have #ArbitraryBook #ChapterOne #Question13 as tags to search for? Would it even work?

Cheers I’ll check it out and revert back

Edit: does an app like lemmy have the foundation to host something like a “specific math textbook forum” where subsections are dedicated to individual textbooks?

Thank you, I’ve posted in math.lemmy to see if anything crops up

I’m studying concrete mathematics by Donald Knuth and I find myself consulting ChatGPT quite a lot. It’s an effective study partner in my opinion if used sincerely.

However I feel this approach is missing a core element of mathematics which is collaboration with other people.

I’ve tried to look on the main maths discord channel but the society is too big and my queries get drowned out. Is there a book specific forum out there that I can find targeted musings on the questions I’m trying to solve?

Perhaps this is an opportunity to start my own server?

Just letting my mind wonder a bit but requirements for such a server would be:

  • specific books
  • question numbers
  • maybe those two can be achieved with tagging
  • latex integration

You’d also imagine that to get a server like this to actually take off we must all decide we’re studying the same book

Build quality by rotring is fantastic I don’t have a Tikky but I vouch for the brand

I’m looking for a study group for a specific maths textbook I’m reading

Discord math forum is too big and my queries get swamped so I don’t use it

I’d appreciate some advice on this and also how to develop my federated use of the internet

It does for me too but I haven’t concluded it’s the optimal outcome

Valhalla only sounds like a nice place to go because I’ve played Skyrim

Let’s face it though: it’s probably a bit of a shit place to be what with all the fighting types of neuroses getting together makes for some shit energy to spend an eternity around

I have to grapple with where I stand with prostitution.

On one hand legalising prostitution probably prevents higher incidence of sexual violence because at least the “horny” component underpinning sexual violence has been dealt with safely

On the other hand, it’s sad to see people get strung along in these arrangements where it clearly looks like they’re being taken advantage of. (Emotionally lead on to believe they have something special)

However it may be “sad” to us the observers; but maybe this illusion is the best some of these people could hope for.
