😂 endurance rally!

Absolute monster of a car. Twin turbo V8. The sound of it was and still is incredible. Only tried it out a few times on Project Cars 2 and regularly crashed 😂

Check out some on board footage here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OQVWvNIzVSc&t=147s&pp=ygUkUm9iIHNoZXJyYXJkIG1lcmNlZGVzIHNhdWJlciBvbmJvYXJk

As stupid as it sounds, I forget which gear I'm in when I use sequential, and spend more time pissing around trying to look at which one I'm in. With manual, I at least have that physical, muscle confirmation as to which I'm in and can make a split second decision as to which I need next. I'm probably just not used to sequential, but I still don't get the enjoyment out of it I guess. That's entirely personal preference though.

Yeah this was a bit of a dick move by EA (intentional or not). A friend of mine also had to write off the game for this exact reason.

Awesome choice, love having a good fight with this thing. I did a video about this one in EA WRC. Such a great car. Link if interested: (not my best editing, going through rough times atm but oh well) https://video.gamerstavern.online/w/1QFkxig44RQBsaQ1wahHqQ

Stratos! Great car! Though in it’s class I always end up choosing the Ford Escort MK2 instead 😆

[-] harrybo93@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Hell yeah, manual shift all the way. I literally don’t drive any sequential shift cars- if I I’m forced to I’ll still drive it as a manual. It’s what the joy of driving is for me to be honest.

I wouldn’t knock EA WRC, it’s still made by Codemasters- the guys behind all the dirt series so it’s still very much a similar game but with the added bonus of a WRC license so you get a shed load more cars and official tracks

I still want one! Problem is in the UK it’s kind of associated with a man having a mid life crisis 😂

[-] harrybo93@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Oof I can’t disagree with you there, iconic is the word! Drives really nicely in EA WRC too ;)

For me, nothing comes close to the MG Metro 6R4 in EA WRC. There’s just something about how it just clicks with my driving style, along with that amazing sounding naturally aspirated V6. I can’t describe it, there’s just a mutual agreement between me and the car where it just works 🤣

Anyone else have a similar thing in other games or even EA WRC?

Same one that I use! It’s great. I just wish I didn’t have to download a new installer every time it needed an update 😂

[-] harrybo93@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Oh I had this installed for a while actually! Would ordinarily try and have DR2 installed but that file size is not the one…

When you say RBRHU, is that Richard Burns Rally the Hungarian rally sim fans version, as in RSF?

[-] harrybo93@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Yeah I reckon I’ll give it a go soon enough. I also really don’t enjoy sequential shifters. Love me some old school manual shift!

[-] harrybo93@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Yeah, agreed. There's been a lot of communities that I left behind there that haven't yet been started up here. General rule of Lemmy is if it isn't there, create it!

I'm a rally guy myself, but that's not because I hate track racing. I love to try track cars every now and then but my driving style just isn't refined enough to do well in it. I can't do the consistent precision and racing lines needed. I prefer to fight cars and fight with unpredictable terrain. I can't describe it, but rally just fits for me 🤷‍♂️

That said, I'm currently trying to find a good game/mod that I can add a Golf 8 R line to wang around a track because I love the R line Golfs!

**Well that escalated quickly. ** Welcome everyone! 58 new members in such a short space of time is mad, wasn't sure whether lemmy held many people with sim racing interest but- looks like I was wrong! Feel free to post all things sim racing and sim racing. The whole idea behind this was to have an active space where we get to discuss this stuff!

Thank you for joining, and welcome!

Happy racing. Anyone got any clips of their gameplay to post?

This is some incredible quality onboard video of Oliver Solberg (yes, son of Petter Solberg!) absolutely owning the Sweet Lamb stage of Wales Rally. I don’t think there’s much other on board footage that comes close to this one in terms of quality that gives us an insight into what those old school rally cars drove like.

Hats off to Oliver here, driving it like a man possessed and not missing a beat- also in manual as well! It always saddens me somewhat when they put sequential gearbox into these classic rally cars.

Hey everyone! I decided to set up a new community centred around sim racing and rally as I couldn’t really find anything that active on Lemmy currently. Feel free to join and post! ☺️

Hey guys! Hope you don’t mind the post here but I just set up a new community geared around sim racing and sim rally as I couldn’t find anything active on Lemmy centred around these.

If this suits your interest, feel free to join and post! :)

What sim racing games are you all playing these days? Here's a few of my current favourites: EA WRC BeamNG.Drive

First post into this community and I'll shamelessly post my own video of me talking about one of Group B greats - driven by me in EA WRC!

Not a spammy cross post, this is gaming related with sim racing and EA WRC pc gaming!

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/17025805

It's here! I did Episode 2 of my new video series: Rally Showcase. Hopefully a lot better quality and editing than the last one...thanks for your patience while I figure out the ropes haha.

This time, we're looking at the Peugeot 205 T16 - The Group B weapon that kept the likes of Lancia and Audi on their toes for a long time.
