Everyone getting hung up on themes but the best thing about ST is the look and feel, aided by the blend of practical effects and surprisingly solid early era CGI. The behind the scenes stuff on how they did it is worth checking out, though not as amazing a technical/budgetary achievement as Robocop. Verhoeven is/was a whiz at keeping his spectacles visually coherent.

I actually had an OK-ish chat with my dad about transness...he's a huge contrarian and a pedant which makes talking about many things quite annoying, but thankfully he is not on social media at all so he is not completely pilled in any one direction. Once I introduced the phrase "decoupling sex and gender" he was able to at least grasp that, so.....baby steps. But who knows where we'll be at next year.

I remain convinced she is asexual / has never f*cked and the boyfriend press/song cycles are there to convince you otherwise. But then again I also thought the Bey/Jay drama was mostly made up to sell records.

idk if this is a bit or not but I did actually sit thru all of loose change final cut on a big screen in a university auditorium and found it to be not remotely convincing. the "truthers" who came out to present it and answer questions afterwards were memorably deranged, lots of energy weapons chatter
