I know what you're getting at, but saying "there is no rule of law anymore" is a bit hyperbolic. The cops, at least in my city, are still arresting people. You make it seem like we can just do whatever we want now. This isn't The Purge.

What we need is a mandated and enforced vacancy tax nationwide. Make it high enough to fix the housing crisis.

*Edited to add: according to the Wikipedia article I linked, Canada and the USA have cities that have implemented vacancy taxes. We need to do like France and Ireland and make it nationwide.

Where did you get your information from? Please cite some reputable sources. I'm pretty sure you're !confidently_incorrect@lemmy.world.

I know it's not going to happen under this regime but it seems like the solution is to offer tax breaks, subsidies, or whatever we think might give the developers some incentive to build lower income housing.

Forgive my ignorance; I don't know much about Siberia other than it is desolate and not much fun. How did that turn out?

They do look like jellyfish! That, or the ghosts from Pac-Man.

I actually appreciated the article. The section about my car's manufacturer was comprehensive and I learned a lot.

Scary times we live in.

How would permablocking a certain username help?

It's actually a pretty bad idea. Trolls would use it as a weapon. Argue with them and they'll make an alt with your username then do stuff to get you (rather, your username) permabanned from Lemmy.

How so? Wouldn't more posts/comments be a good thing for Lemmy?

I honestly think that bot is not as reliable as it seems…

If it's not, report bugs on the Lemmy-federate github or !lemmyfederate@lemy.lol

They might want to do it under a different username. I have a feeling the devs don't like them very much.

Others accepted that sex was necessary but tried to come up with methods to remove or decrease the pleasure.

Ever heard of Mormons "soaking?" LOL:

"According to Men's Health, soaking is when a man puts his penis inside of a female partner's vagina. They then lay in the bed and have someone else shake the bed to cause movement"

They think of it as a loophole to get around the whole "no sex before marriage" thing.

I learned about the Shakers and Quakers back in elementary school but can't remember much about them. I didn't know they were celibate. So I looked into it and there are only 3 left in the U.S.

A new person has joined the last active Shaker community in the U.S, bringing the Christian, communal, and celibate group to a total of three. They once numbered in the thousands.

Interesting. Thank for showing me a rabbit hole to dive down.
