I signed up when I was looking for Reddit alternatives a couple of weeks ago and was told I would get an invite link, but so far nothing. I think it's by invitation only right now 🤷‍♀️

Are we anti google docs here? I feel like it has everything word does and you can easily save/download files onto your computer as a PDF.

If that doesn't work, you can use word online! It's basically MS word, you just can't access it offline. It's on the web.

Please do! I haven't been here long but I've noticed that the most popular stuff on lemmy tends to be political or inflammatory (which seems to be true for other social media platforms too). I'm sort of making it a mission to try and share positive and wholesome stuff, or just things I generally find to be "cool" or interesting 🙂

Today I saw a little albino fish at work and I got excited, but I realized I have no one to share it with lol.

Some days the loneliness hits a little harder than others, and tonight just seems to be one of those nights I suppose. I figured maybe I can curb the feeling a bit by striking up a conversation with a stranger.

Feel free to DM as well if you'd like a friend too! Or if you're looking for some kind of connection that you can't seem to find irl. (Hopefully this is allowed?) I promise I will share a photo of my albino fish 🙂

I don't know if there's a universal agreed-upon definition, but I've always considered lit fic to be character-driven stories that portray complex themes/topics about the human condition. Essentially explorations of characters, emotions, life, humanity, relationships, and society through a lens of fiction that is (usually) based in the real world!

I feel pretty directionless in life right now and would love to find a community or local organization that I can contribute to and feel passionate about. This forum doesn't seem to be super active, but if anyone out there is reading this, I am curious to hear people's experiences volunteering in/around the city, and if you have any personal recommendations based on your own interests?

P.S. I'm interested in things like wildlife/biodiversity/habitat conservation, youth education/outreach, community gardening, animal care, and the arts. But those are all pretty broad categories so if you have any experience with them please do share!

Hi! I'm new to Lemmy and I'm looking for a friend to get to know and chat with every day. I'm 27 years old from the Canadian prairies (MST), a complete homebody, and my hobbies include reading, drawing, baking, and watching things. I also love nature and am passionate about biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, even though I'm not really an outdoorsy or adventurous person.

I hate taking photos of myself so please don't ask me for pics when we get to chatting, but if appearance is important to you, there you go, that's me. You can decide whether you'd like to talk to me based off those photos.

As a conversation starter I'd love to hear all about your 2026 resolutions. Maybe we can even work on ours together! Or if you're not a goal setter, tell me about the last rabbit hole you tumbled into. Mine was a true crime case about the murder of Boston police officer John O'Keefe. If neither of those work, feel free to take the lead and direct our conversation as you please.
