Israel has fed the growth of Hamas in an effort to tear apart the Palestinian state. Also, Israel has been annexing Palestinian land, and Hamas always follows this with terrorism. There are no good sides in this conflict and nothing that is happening is a surprise. Civies are fucked.
Couldn't label NPR as state sponsored so removed the label entirely?
Not to get too sidetracked but part of what isn't working about capitalism is what is coming down the pipe with climate change. Capitalism does work, but market socialism looks like an upgrade to me. People over profits.
I watched 'Till' last night (if you don't know the story, Emmett Till was lynched when he visited his cousins in Mississippi in the '50s. The murderers were identified by multiple witnesses, but the local jury found them not guilty. Till was a 14 year old black kid whose infraction was telling a white lady she looked like a movie star, and then doing a dog-whistle).
A lot of what was happening back then looks like what is happening to LGBT now. It's wild. They'll keep ramping it up, they aren't anywhere near where they want to be and they have the power and support to make it happen.
Can someone explain to me why this is ADHD and not depression? I see this as depression and general life struggles.
I'm coming from /all btw so just curious.
Edit: good explanations. Makes sense now. Pretty sure I don't have ADHD but I do get depressed so comparing the two puts the other into perspective.
See that other article on the NYPost next to this one? A guy turned himself into a border collie? He's a dog now and it only cost $20,000.
Great news source. No problems here. Not click bait garbage at all. Nope, not meant for maximum sharing. Thanks L4sBot for your contribution.
I understand the value of working in an office, but I wish our society would choose to pursue improving the quality of our lives instead of increasing productive capacity. It's never enough. These companies always want more.
We can do our jobs just fine, even great, at home. But they want to squeeze everything out of their workers.
There is a weak defence to be made that they have never raised prices. In the context of our current situation this is just more profiteering.
Salesforce, up 24% https://www.salesforce.com/news/press-releases/2022/05/31/q1-fy23-results-update/
Spotify up 14%, 2.8 billion in profits https://newsroom.spotify.com/2023-04-25/spotify-reports-first-quarter-2023-earnings/ Edit: Wrong facts by me here as others pointed out. Spotify is in the hole a few hundred million. Maybe rise is justified? Idk. votes 30/1 at time of edit in case you're curious.
Apple, 100 billion in Q2 2023
The list goes on and on. All of these companies have laid off staff. Spotify laid off 200.
I've never liked the subscription pricing model and have avoided all of these services. I can't afford hundreds of dollars a year on things that aren't staple items.
The women in the court? Not sure who you're referring to or maybe I'm missing some information here. I thought they were women who became pregnant, were denied abortions, went through some heinous shit, and are suing the state in protest of a law that most people already don't agree with. Kind of missing the 'nutjob' part of your thoughts..
I love this sentiment but I hope we can keep lemmy a nice place.
Like I'm sure we all agree that a good billionaire lynching would be awesome, but I also don't want to crow on about it day after day. Escalate or bust.
Suspiciously horrible take
Missing a gym, physio, and doctors clinic.
