Nooooooooo. It seemed... well, not great but definitely interesting. Such a bummer

I should have been clearer. I mean 1 driver + 1 passenger

Now that would be something. I'm primarily buying this for lane-splitting, so it wouldn't work for me. But I hope it exists just for its own sake.

I've been using Beeper. It's open source and built on Matrix bridges, also open source. For RCS you have to link it to your Google Messages

This is so cool! Thank you for sharing.

So when the clamshell is closed, music/podcast apps still work as normal? I guess it's the same thing as a screen turning off on a normal phone, right?

Does the exterior screen show anything besides the time?

How has this impacted your phone usage? Do you find you're using your phone more or less than before?

[–] mulcahey@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's what I see. Maybe OP is using a weird Lemmy client that doesn't display pinned posts?

[–] mulcahey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Precisely. He should have used the flags from England, France, and Spain. This has been my point from the start

[–] mulcahey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Some day we'll find out where English, Spanish, and French come from, I'm sure

[–] mulcahey@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

I'm aware, but why did he choose those flags for the thumbnail? All those languages are named for countries that have flags

Thank you for this great tool!

Is there a way I could use this to find a Lemmy instance that let's me interact with desired instances? For example:

  • I want to participate in Instance A, B, and C.
  • A has defederated from B and C
  • can I generate a list of instances that let's me interact with A, B, and C? Then I'll move my account there.

Thank you!

I read a lot of articles. In the past, I've used Pocket to access articles on all my devices.

I prefer to read on my e-ink tablet, where scrolling is a pain. So I need a read-it-later app that supports page-turning, the same way an e-book does.

Pocket used to have this feature, but they killed it with their most recent update.

Wallabag has this feature, but I find the Wallabag fonts ugly and unreadable.

Omnivore does not appear to have this feature.

Does anyone use a read-it-later app that supports page-turning?

Thank you!

The goal: See upcoming events from various NYC venues in one place, possibly my Google Calendar

The problem: Bars and venues all use different sites and apps to manage their event calendars, forcing me to check each venue's website individually. It sucks!

My best guess at a solution: Find a way to convert the venue's websites/calendars to RSS, then use IFTTT to convert the RSS feeds to Google Calendar entries.

  1. Is that the correct solution?
  2. Does anyone know the best way to convert these sites to RSS?

Here are the calendars that I need to convert:

And one newsletter:

These venues already use Google Calendar, so I've successfully imported them:

Thank you Software Options!

A few venues use Google Calendar, so I've already managed to import those to my own Google Calendar via IFTTT. But the rest use their own website. I've listed all of my desired venues & their calendars below.

Thank you RSS Feeds community!

I frequently use Calibre to convert academic papers from PDF to epub, so I can read them on my tablet. But the conversion often results in weird formatting artifacts.

I'm aware that in the Conversion tool, there's a Search & Replace section, where I can list various expressions that will help me remove things like page numbers. This post has some helpful expressions for that. For example:

\d+<br>\n|\d+\w<br>\n|\w\d+<br>\n

Does anyone have a list of more expressions that they use when converting academic papers from PDF to epub? Especially any good expressions for handling footnotes?? I would love to get a bunch together, save them, and then simply load them every time I have to do this.

Thanks all!

I'm new to Kdenlive, and I'm trying to use OpenTimelineIO to import a .XML from DaVinci. But I get an error message every time I try File>OpenTimelineIO Import:

Could not find "otioconvert" script although it is installed through pip3.

Please check the otio scripts are installed in a directory listed in PATH environment variable

Sometimes it prompts me to configure my OpenTimelineIO setup, but then it shows this:

Everything is configured: OpenTimelineIO 0.15.0

Defaulting to user installation because normal site-packages is not writeable

Requirement already satisfied: opentimelineio in /Users/mulcahey/Library/Python/3.8/lib/python/site-packages (0.15.0)

Requirement already satisfied: pyaaf2&lt;1.7,>=1.4 in /Users/mulcahey/Library/Python/3.8/lib/python/site-packages (from opentimelineio) (1.6.0)

Anyone know how to fix? I'm running Windows 10.

Thank you!

The Doogee Smini is about the size of an iPhone 13 mini, however, it has an IP69K rating, an info display on the back and a customizable button on the side.

Already up on Aliexpress!

This community is great! Your memes are hilarious. I send them to my friends every day. My friends hate me. I love you though.

The volume here is way too high for me, so I had to unsubscribe. If we ever get custom feeds (so I can have a feed for News, and for Memes, etc.) then I'll be back in a heartbeat.

Thank you all for so many laughs!

I've used these sites in the past to get around article paywalls, but for weeks now I haven't been able to get past the captcha. I fill it out correctly and it just reloads. Anyone else having this issue? Know a good alternative?

Good compact phones died with the iPhone Mini.

I like going to karaoke bars with my friends, but so many songs have problems:

  • They're fun for the first 2 verses and chorus, but then they keep going, or
  • They include some really long instrumental break in the middle, where I just have to kinda tap dance

What are some karaoke songs that don't have these problems? Looking for songs that are

  • short: Below 4 min if possible. Maybe even below 3?
  • no instrumental break

Thanks Lemmy!
