Just to make it clear, I am by no means calling you a liar and I don't mean to be rude, I would just like to ask some questions that you don't need to answer if you dont want to. Just ignore my reply if that's the case.
Are you sure you've seen them fall yourself?
Was the first impact really only their head/face (no hands bracing for impact)?
How old was the person and how much did they weigh roughly?
Edit: The only explanation I could come up with myself is that the spine as well as the skull was taken to it's absolute limits absorbing the impact and some very lucky genetics. They must have landed in the most "optimal" position, too.
Honestly, nothing.
I don't think most of them have a problem with eastern europe (except russia maybe).
