i wish the left could just pass a law banning harmful religion

i personally don’t care what you believe nor should freedom of religion go away, but this is exhausting

it’d be nice if we could just split into different countries; tired of dealing with these people. let them have their own fascist christian everyone-that’s-not-a-cishet-white-man-phobic country with zero taxes and fucked up roads and people realizing they have no choice but to hang themselves by their bootstraps when shit hits the fan. the rest of us will have a country where we take care of each other and don’t engage in harmful, childish drama.

i want to add - if you need to arm yourself but for some reason cannot have a gun, there are non-lethal weapons and guns out there. not perfect, but definitely better than going completely unarmed. if you are able to workout, that helps too. if you’re unarmed and a fast runner or a good fighter, that again is better than nothing at all.

Hello everyone! Glad to see so many people here!

Maybe a mini-introduction from me? I care a lot about durable products because I am dirt poor, and it's so important for me to have things that last. I also care about the environment, so the less landfill, the better (if this is something you also care about, consider checking out @zerowaste!). Currently typing this on a refurbished mid-2012 MacBook Pro beautifully running MacOS Ventura through OCLP. It's not really showing signs of aging, and I hope I can get many more years out of it, as, well, I am poor, lol (but should I ever acquire $$$$$, I definitely wouldn't mind an upgrade :))

I'm not sure if I plan on continuing to moderate this magazine - I just wanted to move subreddits to the Fediverse, to get a head start.

Any r/BuyItForLife mods here that want to continue moderating? m/BuyItForLife, would you like me to contact the subreddit mods to see if they would like to moderate here? Anyone interested in moderating?

Feel free to also respond with an introduction, why you care about "buy it for life" products, and a "buy it for life" product you own/value! And please, feel free to make posts in this magazine, whether they're questions, products you own, or anything else related to BIFL!

And finally, please be patient with me! I'm currently juggling a million things, both online and irl. Thanks! And once again, welcome!

you've heard of beehaw, now get ready for kcaw

they won't

i tried to move my 100k subscriber sub to kbin (i also offered two different chatrooms)

6 came to kbin and people started attacking me for having the sub closed (one person even resorted to transphobia like jesus fucking christ) and being "political" and one person even made their own version of my subreddit

moving is too much work (it's actually not that much work, but since we now need two videos playing at the same time and can only watch those vids for 30 seconds, everything is "too much work"). that's why people are still on facebook, twitter, instagram, and tiktok.

i'm very glad there's an acceptable amount of activity on the "threadiverse" right now... but i just don't have hope that everyone will leave.

downvotes REALLY bother me. why it bothers me personally: i have severe mental health issues (to the point of disability). due to how i grew up, i heavily internalized being and accepting that i'm always bad and horrible and wrong and punishing myself for it. when i get criticized or downvoted - even if it's silly - i feel HORRIBLE, because obviously i MUST'VE done something VERY BAD and VERY WRONG and i must be PUNISHED and i must CORRECT. and it's even more frustrating when i don't know what to correct. bonus, i have autism and adhd, so i can say things considered "wrong" and not know why, but people won't explain it to me because apparently i should magically know. and i don't want to be a bad person, but now i'm suddenly a bad person and i don't know what to do about it.

this is just ME. i don't think it applies to most people. and inb4 "bruh it's just a downvote, it's not that deep, touch grass" AGREED. BIG AGREE. but if you understand anything about psychology, it can take a very long time to undo stuff that's so deeply ingrained from childhood, if it can be undone at all. i have actually heavily improved in this area in terms of recognizing i'm not necessarily wrong and rarely need to be punished, but the emotional reaction sadly has not changed much.

also, some (not all) people just seem to use downvotes as a personal attack, and that's just annoying as hell. i think people can relate to this much more.

i try hard not to downvote, because i don't think it's necessary most of the time. people seem to downvote the silliest things...

the one downvote is from u/spez

i'm trying to "migrate" my favorite subs to kbin. i am getting errors... don't know if i've met a limit or if everything is just overloaded rn

edit: after some hours, i'm allowed to make new "magazines" on kbin. god bless
