I imagine it could be more than a relic of the misogynistic past. It could also be in recognition of the misogynistic present, where women may not have all the same opportunities available to them as men in certain industries.

What incentive is there to keep working at a 90% tax burden?

Why do people volunteer for free?

The Beatles' "Taxman" refers to a 95% tax rate that they were complaining about. Yet they still went on to produce more records and earn more money (and yes, work).

If someone has enough money to live a life of luxury, they'll keep doing what they do to earn that life of luxury.

Then, any income you earn after that is taxed at 100%.

For the rest of your life!

That seems pretty misleading...

Oops, skimming fail. Lol

Feels like a question better suited for something like AskHistory. AskLemmy is usually about personal anecdotes, isn't it?

My Neopets account got wiped shortly before they said they'd stop wiping accounts. I'd lost the password and recovery email ages ago though.

No doubt. Our police aren't quite as gun happy as the US cops, but they still find their own ways to murder people they consider to be lesser than them if a gun might be too egregious for a given situation.

I feel like that'd just move lobbying from governments to people. So there'd be far more propaganda and garbage. Politicians would be becoming "power delegates", collecting as many people's votes as possible. Then we'd end up with another representative democracy (or whatever it's called to vote for people who then vote for policies)

Which smartphone do you have?

There's time during school hours too to communicate with friends, yeah. I think their idea was that students shouldn't be messaging those friends during their classes, which I don't think is an outrageously ask.
