King crab sounds hella good right now, not gonna lie

Better than a garbage-ass McChicken ever was. I remember eating them when I was on the struggle, before covid. The only good thing about them back then was the price; now they don't even have that going for them.

🤔 Someone ought to make a !cookathome@lemmy.cafe sub. EDIT: there we go :P

Those gun laws are never enforced fairly and are just a thin legal veil to justify racism and oppression of minorities. If you cared about PoC, you wouldn't support gun control at all.

This whole debate reeks of racist white coffee-drinking liberal. 🤦 And if saying that sounds racist to you, remember what was said about the white moderate back in the 60's.

How was he not protected under whistleblower laws?

The fallacy, among others, they're committing is called equivocation, by the way. They use a meaning of one word one minute and another the next, when it suits them to win the confrontation.

This is why debate and talking don't actually solve problems. People can and will just do stupid shit like this in bad faith to get you to acquiesce to them or stop challenging them.

People like that need ass-beatings until they're willing to conform to the dictionary's definitions of words and the rules of debate.

I just now realized I was justifying a 196 meme with a serious response. I need to go touch grass

Red states would rather let a patient die than let her terminate a dangerous pregnancy. And they’re barely pretending otherwise.

For many years before S.B. 8 passed in Texas and was then swept into existence by the Supreme Court, and before Dobbs ushered in a more formal regime of forced childbirth six months later, the groups leading the charge against reproductive rights liked to claim that they loved pregnant women and only wanted them to be safe and cozy, stuffed chock-full of good advice and carted around through extra-wide hallways for safe, sterile procedures in operating rooms with only the best HVAC systems.

Then Dobbs came down and within minutes it became manifestly clear that these advocates actually viewed pregnant people as the problem standing in the way of imaginary, healthy babies—and that states willing to privilege fetal life would go to any and all lengths to ensure that actual patients’ care, comfort, informed consent, and very survival would be subordinate.

We are only beginning to understand the extent to which pregnant women are dying and will continue to die due to denials of basic maternal health care, candid medical advice, and adequate treatment.

At least 1,201 people were killed in 2022 by law enforcement officers, about 100 deaths a month, according to Mapping Police Violence, a nonprofit research group that tracks police killings. ProPublica examined the 101 deaths that occurred in June 2022, a time frame chosen because enough time had elapsed that investigations could reasonably be expected to have concluded. The cases involved 131 law enforcement agencies in 34 states.

In 79 of those deaths, ProPublica confirmed that body-worn camera video exists. But more than a year later, authorities or victims’ families had released the footage of only 33 incidents.

Philadelphia signed a $12.5 million contract in 2017 to equip its entire police force with cameras. Since then, at least 27 people have been killed by Philadelphia police, according to Mapping Police Violence, but in only two cases has body-camera video been released to the public.

ProPublica’s review shows that withholding body-worn camera footage from the public has become so entrenched in some cities that even pleas from victims’ families don’t serve to shake the video loose.

Man, why does humanity have to be like this?

[-] pinkdrunkenelephants@lemmy.cafe 28 points 9 months ago

They need to be removed from power by any means available.

Honestly, the one thing people should be disputing about post-apocalypse games is why it is people would even be scraping by to survive in the first place. We're social animals and would band together out of necessity, and knowledge and high technology wouldn't simply go away simply because half the population turned into zombies and started eating everybody else.

Just hike to the nearest town or something. Read a book. Build a cistern and some aqueducts or something. People have literally been doing just that for thousands of years so why would it be hard for people to do it in modern times?

Well, the pot's not wrong, is it?

Imagine anyone unironically swallowing down that pig swill

Actually I used to and can confirm how disgusting and worthless it is. It's not even worth it for the free fries. You barely get any "meat" on the burgers; they're mostly bread and iceberg lettuce which is actually bad for you too.

Even the fucking donuts I eat are better than that disgusting trash. 🤦

Oh, and here's the kicker: the only demographic that eats there consistently is the extreme poor who are unlikely to understand terms of service and contracts, and these deals are designed to exploit them. They, I feel bad for. Anyone who has money and chooses to waste it on that lukewarm basura deserves the suffering they get.

They know that democracy has always just been an illusion to keep us in line and that we are actually just chattel slaves for the ruling class. The system they built requires a stable or growing population when in fact it's declining, so they're taking the easy way out to boost numbers.

In the future, they'll just grow us in vats so if we get out if line, they will just murder us all and grow a new batch of slaves. Progress! 😃

Yeah, we've reached that point where peaceful solutions are no longer viable, and that should terrify everyone.

You ever heard of the 10 stages of genocide?
