These laws are intentionally toothless. Google will eat the fines and the feds can pretend they won something.

Nothing will change until we start imprisoning executives who break the law.

Any multi platform GUI toolkit with a cross-compilable language will give you twice the functionality in half the development time over HTML+CSS+JavaScript.

Hundreds of companies have tried to solve this exact problem for years and already did the cost/benefit analysis. It turns out that writing almost all of your code exactly once is cheaper than doing it in the multiple stacks that would be required with whatever your dream architecture is. They are not idiots just because you want them to be.

You sound like someone with zero practical experience in this area who just wants to rant about code purity. The rest of us are trying to get shit done while you pine for a perfect technology stack that will never exist.

We cannot allow another country to pretend they have jurisdiction in North America, that's beyond unacceptable. These enforcers absolutely need to be arrested and deported.

China won't do shit. They are just as dependent on the US/Canada, if not moreso at this point. If we allow this to continue we are essentially surrendering our sovereignty to them, while allowing them to harass and threaten our taxpayers. That is pure cowardice.

Israel passed a law last year that bans Palestinian spouses of Israeli citizens from living in Israel. The Israeli government is blatantly, overtly racist. Fuck the cowardly dems who didn't stand up for Jayapal.

You can never go wrong with Thinkpad. Both of mine are 10+ years old and still running and they do with realyl well with Linux

The idea was that you basically paid your own way. A huge part of the issue is that Congress steals our social security money on a regular basis and people let them get away with it.

Yes they're owned by IBM now.

Debian is more bare bones then Ubuntu, that's why. Ubuntu comes with a lot of packages already installed by default. In Debian you have to install a lot of that stuff manually. You might also have to edit some configs for example. It's not that hard, but maybe a little too much for a beginner.

I upgraded Debian to 12 last night, which required manually updating the source.list for the apt repos for example. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure Ubuntu gives you a UI for upgrades? Upgrading Debian was simple for a techie who's played around in Linux already, but it could be more intimidating for a newbie.

Depends on your distro and what's available in the repo. With default repos you're more trusting the distro developer to vet packages.

I trust debian for that. It's been a while since I used Ubuntu so I don't remember how their repos are set up but the debian team is notoriously conservative with their repos.

What's your source for your claim about the intercept?

I'll take that any day over having my girlfriend's rights at risk because suburban soccer moms fell for CRT BS and decided to elect a christo fascist looney tune governor of VA. Because of them it's now illegal to watch porn without submitting photo ID, they derailed our weed legalization, they're pissing away the state's massive surplus to help rich people and they keep trying to ban and undermine abortion rights.

Meanwhile in Mass you've got legal weed, actual efforts to address inequality, women's rights perfected and among the best standards of living in the country? Count me in. It's not like mad transit is miracle down here, the metro is horrendous.

There's no state in this country that's free of major corruption at this point. It doesn't matter if you're in a red blue or purple state, corruption is everywhere, and there are basically zero moderate republicans. I'll take corrupt secular governance any day over these crazy fundamentalists, who are apparently very electable even in a light blue state and even more corrupt than most Dems
