Every point is that point. Every point would see the whole universe converge on them simultaneously.

Think of a balloon expanding. All the dots on the surface are moving away from one another. No dot is the centre.

Tariffs, probably.

I don't think that applies since /* will just glob out to all the filenames in /

A common procurement agency would be a logical next step and solve a lot of the cost problems without incurring command issues, no?

It helps to give the pineapple a really good squeeze to reduce the liquid before you put it on. Then use the juice for sangria or whatever. :)

Not all DNS hosts support that. Webnames.ca, looking at you...

Also my workplace hosts their own dns and I think it will be a cold day in hell before they let me do automated updates.

Sounds like a Murdoch Mysteries plot. Terence Myers establishes a top secret spy org financed through the Maple Syrup Reserve...

Either that, or we're the only ones who are GOOD at it.

In The Long Dark, making an improvised axe is more a midgame item. Gotta find a forge and a heavy hammer, then enough coal. Not to mention stocking up food and water for the wait while you heat it up and craft it.

Here's a perennial favourite: what features would you like added to the Long Dark, or what features would you like to see simplified or removed entirely?

(This is a decathread because we are too small to have megathreads yet)

(This might end up being my own personal gripe thread, so buckle up)

From a Youtube comment:

"Sadly the creator of this mash-up has passed away. His name was Erwin Beekveld and he died on 30th of march 2022 aged 52. Thank you for all the joy you gave us, Erwin. Rest In Peace"

Pour one out for an OG memelord.

In case this community catches on, I'll need people to help moderate. Preference given to people with a proven record of moderating Reddit or Lemmy communities, and preference also to active posters on /r/thelongdark.

Friday bread (lemmy.ca)

Pepper-pepper-pepper asiago sourdough bread. 4% toasted and ground peppercorns, 20% asiago cheese, 1% garlic powder, generous pinch of Japanese shichimi (7spice) and red pepper flakes. Probably 85% hydration.

Mah starter (lemmy.ca)

This is my unnamed sourdough starter blorping away on the counter in its charming green mason jar. About to go back into the fridge for two weeks.

Got kicked out of the building at work today due to this. Crazy.

Almost feels like I should tag this one NSFW.

Someone cut through all the cables on the Library microfiche station this weekend. Some people. :(

TIL there's a Skytrain proposal for a UBC extension. 👍

Introductions (lemmy.ca)

Introduce yourself, if you feel comfortable doing so. This will probably be a small group for the foreseeable future, so we might as well get to know one other.

Placeholder. Content later.

If anyone's interested, I've created a !sfu@lemmy.ca.

Someday, we may have one-sided meme wars!

edit: I just read the sidebar note about contacting the mod team first about advertising. Apologies! Please remove this post with my enthusiastic blessing if you think that this isn't sufficiently relevant to the UBC community.
