Probably not the answer you are looking for, but if you really want to own your servers, have you considered replacing Minecraft with Luanti? Sure you'll be missing some features, but you can help to improve it.

Now you can install Bloatcrawl 2 on your smart TV. The vanilla game will also be available after the 0.34 release.
The TV remote works in the launcher, but the game is not fully playable with it. A bluetooth keyboard is the most popular option, but you can also use a mouse or touch screen, if your device has one.
