The dude is 81. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to retire long before that. Entertainers generally don't have pensions, so earnings from their copyrighted material can function like one.

I have no problem with copyrights held by an artist lasting for the life of the creator. But copyrights maintained by corporations or other entities indefinitely, especially after the death of the creator, are bullshit.

Right? The tone really took a turn there. There I was, having a sensible chuckle, and suddenly I was sad

I guy I work with owned two condos in a development. The HOA passed a rule banning short term rentals. There were a lot of units being advertised on Airbnb and similar services so he put them on the market when he heard the rule was being proposed to beat the rush.

He managed to sell one at market but the second one didn't sell before all the other Airbnb landlords listed their places too. He had to take about 10% below market for the second one.

Now those two places are owner occupied, and one of them got a nice deal (I don't know about the ones sold by other people). And everything that sold in that area probably went for a little less for a while due to the glut on the market.

Making renting less profitable works. People aren't landlords because it's fun. They do it for the money. Take away the money and you have less landlords.

Waiting for the hexbears to chime in with critical support for Tucker.

Yup, it's always "critical support" for any country with an adversarial relationship to the "imperial core" no matter how fucked up they are on human rights, or anything else.

It's never critical support for any of the "succdem" countries for their advances on human rights and social safety nets despite not moving towards socialism/communism, and then trying to get them moving in that direction.

Not that all or even most of the countries they support are actually moving towards socialism/communism either. The countries they list as AES (already existing socialism) make me think they have literal holes in their heads, like that guy that didn't realize he shot himself in the head with a nail gun for years.

They're good at quoting Marx but when it comes to who they support their only requirement is anti-western aligned countries, and they'll twist their brains into any knots necessary to invent a narrative to justify that support.

I like Paul Mooney's take on that movie.

You'll have to look it up yourselves though. My complexion prohibits me from accurately quoting almost everything that Paul Mooney has ever said.

Regulatory capture, it's a problem through the government. Decades ago U.S. regulatory agencies were well respected around the world, to the point where if a U.S. body approved something, many other countries automatically followed. Now they're a joke, taking orders from the industries they are supposed to oversee.

What the fuck has been happening with these people? They used to just be weirdos that thought they could drive (travel) without a licence and didn't think they had to comply with a bunch of laws, but mostly administrative stuff. When did they morph into a group that's all about stealing stuff with magic paperwork?

I used to see them as a bunch of goofs that were mostly harmless, aside from things like driving without insurance. Now they're just a bunch of thieves trying to get over on anyone and everyone.

You can go here to get a copy of your report.

If you're in California you can limit their collection and dissemination in the future and have your data deleted.

If you dig into your car's infotainment system to opt out of everything you can find, don't forget any app you might have installed.

Spices x 2. They'd probably be hard to unload without getting robbed, but then you could buy a nice farm.

Everything else would be useless after a short time at best and get you burned as a witch at worst.

Often shortened to deck. Sounds similar enough to dick that you can just say dick and no one notices. You get to go around taking about showing people your dick all the time then giggle about it.
