Must have missed Portugal winning the World Cup.

The API changes. I use Sync, and not being able to use Sync made Reddit more or less unusable for me on my phone. I also fundamentally disagreed with the direction Reddit was going. So, Lemmy it was, and it's great. And now there's Sync for Lemmy, which is even better!

Because it'll make look Trump look heroic?

That was my first thought too, because Trump is a horrible, vicious fuckwit, but now I'm not so sure.

The photographer's job is to document what happened, and this does that. On a purely aesthetic/journalistic level this is a hell of a photo. I don't think it'd be right to delete it just because of how it might get used later, or by whom.

I hate, hate, HATE that MAGAs will make this iconic, don't get me wrong. But the photographer captured a major news event, while literally under fire (albeit the shooting had just stopped) and I think that deserves respect and recognition.

He can, because there's no law against it. Probably nobody thought there'd ever need to be!

A horse that was wearing a curple,
Found the sting of a wasp made him hirple,
Said the horse, "I don't mind"
"But I'm starting to find,"
"That the spot of the sting has turned purple!"

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, chapter 10 is pretty rough, particularly this stark line:

"Slowly but surely, everybody in the house began to starve."

I read the book to my daughter a few years back and I'd forgotten quite how bleak things are before all the fun stuff that people remember.

I really don't like the file picker now - when sharing images or anything else, it shows inconsistent and incomplete lists of folders, and although I can then choose to go to Browse and pick that way, I'd rather just have that by default. Anyone know if it's possible?

Extremely tenuous AD link here, I know, but this is just so ridiculous, that it could have been part of the show.

I hope he has a good maritime lawyer.

Not young anymore, but when I see the price of live music, alcohol, etc, and combine that with things like student debt, low income jobs and the pressure of potentially being humiliated via social media, I wonder how on earth young people ever go out.

I feel incredibly lucky to have been in my late teens/early 20s during the late 90s and early 2000s. I suspect a lot of my generation dodged a fair few bullets, and never even realised it at the time.

Mike Dean has admitted he failed to correct a mistake in a Chelsea v Tottenham match last season to prevent his friend Anthony Taylor receiving extra “grief”.

The former Premier League referee Dean was on VAR duty at Stamford Bridge in August 2022 when Chelsea wanted the Spurs defender Cristian Romero sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella to the floor by his hair. Dean says he made a “really bad call” in not sending Taylor to review his decision.

Why would he do that? And why on earth would he admit it later??

Others may disagree, but every time I find myself wanting to change the sort type, I tap the area circled on the left. But this opens the menu to switch between Subscribed/Local/All - instead I should be tapping the three lines on the right.

Would it maybe make sense to have "Hot", "New", etc appear with those lines instead?

No biggie, just an idea.

Maybe it's personal preference, but I absolutely DESPISE companies who put this sort of cutesy, look how fun we are, but also very passive aggressive, bullshit on their communications.

This goes beyond mildly infuriating for me.

Not sure if we're still applying the low quality image rule as on the R place? If so, this may fall foul. Hopefully not.

Regardless of what you think of the pricing, the dev is not a "scumbag".

I used Sync for Reddit for many years, and he is without a doubt the most responsive and accommodating app dev I've ever encountered. Always updating the community, always looking into improvements, and always friendly and helpful. Not to mention extremely skilled at what he does, as you would discover if you tried Sync (even in its free form).

Your accusation is absolutely over the top and completely contrary to reality. Of course you're free to use whatever app you like, and to disagree with the Sync pricing policy. But there's no need or justification for talking about him like that.
