Nah it’s 7% now.

Absolutely bonkers. I refinanced at 2.5%, but the rate now would nearly double my monthly payment.

This is not great at all. You’ll just have pseudo “news” organizations fill the void.

Your crazy uncles won’t stop sharing articles, but instead of coming from Fox News, they’ll be coming from AI spin-offs of infowars and AI Epoch times.

The left needs to own healthy masculinity and properly address very legitimate issues that disproportionally hurt boys in our society.

Otherwise we will lose a whole generation to toxic male role models in the manosphere.

Are least in California, we have better ways of deploying solar that’s more economical. The issue of storage and transmission is a much bigger problem than generation.

We actually have too much solar sometimes. It’s quite counter intuitive. The grid is a fickle beast.

The US is actually pretty progressive on the LGBTQ front compared to the rest of the world outside of Northern Europe, I'd even go as far as to say the coastal states are some of the best places for LGBTQ folks in terms of culture in the world.

"Our primary conclusion across all scenarios is that without enough fresh real data in each generation of an autophagous loop, future generative models are doomed to have their quality (precision) or diversity (recall) progressively decrease," they added. "We term this condition Model Autophagy Disorder (MAD)."

Interestingly, this might be a more challenging problem as we increase the use of generative AI models online.

Pretty good deal for those that can move their brokerage over.

Now that ffx/x-2 HD is 10 years old, isn't it time for a true ffx remake? I have such great memories playing the original game as a kid, but the current HD remaster screwed up the character models.

I would love a ps5 version of ffx. The story is absolutely wonderful, and I'm sure if someone puts a decent amount of effort in it, they can fix a lot of the more grindy parts of the game along with a blizball update that could make it really fun.

Yes, it's exactly that. They also tap into the "rust-belt" decay along with the sense of economic nihilism of former GDR eastern states(Especially in Thuringia, Saxony). They started specifically as a right-wing Eurosceptic party during the time I was living in Germany in 2013. Even then, it was clear they were attracting some of the more dangerous far-right factions that has been "shut out" of the political system in Germany due to how the voting system works.

They very much toe the line, however, the party has gotten more extreme over the years, especially those in Saxony and Thuringia. People like Hocke does get charged for violating anti-nazism rules, but somehow is still quite influential in the AfD as they have failed to oust him in the past. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B6rn_H%C3%B6cke

Liu and her friend Kelsey Chang, 22, were hiking when they encountered a US man, who apparently tried to sexually assault Liu and threw both women off a cliff

Chang survived the 50-metre (164-foot) fall, but Liu, who was taken to hospital by mountain rescuers, died the same night

Devils advocate, most off the shelf mass market electronics are actually quite reliable. Having custom made hardware often means poor firmware support, extreme costs, and difficult to debug.

Nothing wrong with using off the shelf electronics, especially since the interior of the submarine is atmospheric pressure.

It's a bit of a long podcast, but it raised some very good points. As an Asian American who went to a elite school, I'm very much torn between the two camps myself. However, I'd be very curious to hear other folks thoughts on this matter, especially on the points raised in this podcast.

Honestly, they are pretty damn stressed devices though.

If you think about it, they are on 24/7, with active usage at least 4-6 hours a day, exposed to god knows what humidity, unknown low and high temps, dropped every x days. It’s a modern technological miracle that they last as long as they do. Lots of read and writes with photo and video backups.

My 5 year old X died a month back (flash memory failed), I was actually impressed that it lasted that long.

Why….. I grew up on free and reduced lunches. The return on investment here is immense.

I can share the perspective of why I joined beehaw instead of the other services.

I used to be on the side of free-speech maximalists, but after seeing communities crumble because of toxicity driving out people, I also came to see the same problems with social media that the beehaw folks see.

On anon/pseudo anon places, the social structure to correct anti-social behavior does not exist like in real life. So to create an environment that’s tolerable to the majority of people, you have to isolate and punish the bad actors.

I’m past the age where i want to be spending time on things and places where people are hateful and mean all the time.

So far I haven’t felt any overt political views other than be respectful of other people.

I used to be pretty extreme on the free speech side (a la Ellen Pao saga), but I think the biggest lesson I learned is that unfettered trolls just drive out solid content and create very toxic communities.
