That will depend per game as far as I know.

Native vs wine/proton locations will vary and even when emulating windows some games use "My Games", "My Documents", %APPDATA%, etc for the save file location.

Regarding cloud saves, Heroic will let you download or force download them. After that you would just need to place them where they are expected for the game.

I use Heroic on desktop and deck and am a big fan personally.

This is all spot on. Listen to this kind internet soul.

If you don't want to finish uni, nothing wrong with not doing it. "To get a good job you have to finish college" is total bullshit, and so is "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life".

Find a career that interests you if you can, but more importantly go a route that will let you lead the life you want. So you can work and then have time for your hobbies.

So many trades are well paying and you might find them more interesting than they seem on the surface. For me, making things (physical and software) tickles my lizard brain and for you that could be electrical work, mechanic work, software, plumbing, engineering, sales, etc.

Some will need a degree, some won't but one day you will find something in between "I don't hate my job" and "this is awesome work". That is where you want to be. Then you can figure out if you like hiking, building models, wood working, gaming, fitness things, disc golf, reading, golf golf, etc and

Life's not a race but you only get the one so make sure youre doing what works for you. What works for you can be shockingly hard to figure out but its worth time putting in the effort to do so.

Definitely get professional help. Its scary to talk to someone or even tell your parents you think you need to but its worth it. Therapy really helped me out. Good luck and remember you're not alone!

I think this is largely a trap to think of this way. Just because a game is award winning doesn't mean you will or have to like it.

For example I think breath of the wild is on its best days a 6/10; but rating things on a scale is also, IMO, meaninglessness without context as to why someone feels that way.

Example aside, the thing to realize is you don't have to play any game you aren't into. I recently played Disco Elysium and loved it. I think one of the reasons was I happened to be in the right headspace for that game. Its a very unique experience and I hesitate to recommend it to anyone in spite of my enjoyment.

Games are meant to be fun. If youre not enjoying one, move on. You can always come back to one some other time. It took me a long time fighting the sunk cost fallacy, convincing myself, "I've come this far, I should see how it ends".

TLDR life is short, time spent gaming should be gaming on things you enjoy. Don't let any reviews or hot takes force you into playing something that doesn't jive with you.

I feel this in my bones. Right to the core. Anything important ain't happening on a mobile for some reason.

Depression is tough. Being a good partner during it is really hard. Make sure youre taking care of yourself while you're trying to help him.

SSRIs are different for everyone and its important to evaluate how they might be affecting him with a professional. Keeps encouraging the therapy!

Alcohol can also affect the way SSRIs interact with their mood. It may provide temporary relief for the tough feelings but it will in, nearly all cases, result in a dependency cycle. It will bring his mood down and have him wanting more to readjust.

I'd ask that he abstain until therapy and meds can be evaluated/adjusted if necessary. Its a tough ask when things are that dark for someone, but it would be helpful to go into therapy with as close to a baseline mood as it can be.

There's going to be better days and worse days. For him and you. Try to help each other through the next few months. You might be pulling more emotional weight, but don't look at it that way if it can be helped. Something easier said than done.

Good luck.

While its not nearly as binary as X times lifted, 3 days is enough to see results and keep in shape. It also depends what you're considering results. Here's a really good video on how nuanced it can get: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx6kz1fpwgY

(Dr. Mike isn't for everyone but he conveys the information rather well, IMO)

Good news is you can stay lean, or build muscle, or try to do body recomp at 3 days. Just make sure youre hitting the sets per week per muscle group and don't sell yourself short. Shoot to get close to failure!

Any links or thoughts on sane OpenWRT settings for a home network? I'm a networking noob but learning slowly and would love some good reading or tips.

I use gocryptfs because it can be used on Android (DroidFs) and Linux desktop so I can sync my shares.

There's a few GUIs for desktop for it that you can try out and see if they help with your use case.

When did alacritty die? I thought it was still actively maintained. Maybe I missed an important commit somewhere but it looks active as of now?

StreetComplete is perhaps the easiest and maybe best way to contribute as it is on rails. Constraining input for newer users is great. If your area is saturated with information I look at that as a win for the open community as a whole, but I understand the desire to add more.

There is SCEE which has advanced features and more editing options but I haven't explored it yet. I am just happy something like StreetComplete exists to allow me to contribute in a meaningful way without adding garbage data.
