Appoint more moderators on your own instance.
It’s exceptionally selfish to cut apart the community and try to promote your own instance while the Lemmyverse as a whole is experiencing a mass influx of users. This will create confusion and frustration at a time that we should be rolling out the red carpet as a community for the Reddit exodus.
I reluctantly created a bunch because I want to have those conversations. I figure with time we can always call for volunteers and appointment help as needed. I’m hopeful that moderating a board on Lemmy will require somewhat less effort than Reddit due to the friendlier atmosphere and lower volume.
My home Lemmy doesn't seem to be able to find communities on kbin, when I search for something like !tech@kbin.social it just never resolves. :-/
I hope that’s true. But on the other hand, these zombified “endless summer” guys are exactly who we don’t want to make the jump to lemmy, right?
Me too, but I think the Reddit and Lemmy APIs are sufficiently different that he would effectively have to rebuild most of the app. I have high hopes for https://github.com/buresdv/Mlem, I'm in the TestFlight, but it's too incomplete to actually use currently. Still, I'll miss Apollo itself far more than Reddit.
Lmfao! These are the bowel movements of the starship Fediverse.
Feel optimistic about it, we’re the trailblazers, pioneering the post-Rexxit era!
Haha, core memory unlocked. SHOOT THE MONKEY!!! 🎯🎯🎯
Yea I mean, no wonder the companies have no incentive to avoid a broken day one release. The internet never learns.
Ditto for this, I can see the fediverse being the true Web 3.0! Love the freedom, flexibility and that kind of pioneering spirit I get by being an early adopter of what could be a new paradigm. Which is I guess an old paradigm, because we've kind of gone full circle to like, BBS and e-mail.
On the other hand I guess the ability to ~~scam~~ sell worthless monkey jpegs to greasy bros was kind of an amusing capability of the old web 3.0
Could they have handled this whole situation any worse?
