There may possibly be some issue with outgoing federation as noticed by this commenter: https://lemmy.ml/comment/6690834

In fact, it seems comments from lemmy.ml haven't been federating since 4 days ago. Just check some active lemmy.ml accounts.
e.g.:
https://lemmy.ml/u/dessalines?page=1&sort=New&view=Comments
https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/u/dessalines@lemmy.ml?page=1&sort=New&view=Comments

I am not entirely sure if it's something to do with 0.19, but my home instance, lemmy.sdf.org is also having issues with outgoing federation since upgrading to 0.19.x, although it's currently still just on 0.19.0-rc.13. That's also why I am writing this from this account instead.

Because this was meant to be done

EDIT: GUYS GUYS! This might be it!

I can't reply from neither account anymore!

That's not the purpose. I just wanted it to be clearly visible for people to tell my home instance without having to check my account. (This is my alt account.)

I had to do it this way due to stupid username decision. I didn't yet know what Lemmy was, so I used the same username I used on SDF.org, which was yet another stupid decision: I just wanted to test it out without wasting my desired username, but a good user verified that account for me, thus I got stuck with the username.

I now can't access this post from my original instance. I wanted to edit the title and I forgot that can be done on Lemmy, so I deleted the post. However it only deleted it from my home instance where I now can't access it. I decided to check if it's the same with comments, and yeah, they don't get deleted from other instances either. So asa result, this post is now only unavailable on lemmy.sdf.org. :-/

I disagree with defederation. It shouldn't be used simply for blocking disputable instances like exploding-heads or lemmygrad. All this does is give them more arguments about censorship and remove possibility of discussions where you could argue about some information, making those people there believe what they see just on their tiny community more and more, because that's all they'll see.
I do support defederation in 2 cases:

  1. The instance is filled with spammers/bots invading other instances.
  2. The instance includes illegal and unethical content. (With no intention of its removal)

Made me cry to be honest. I never heard words so beautiful.

I am a simple man, I see Shrek, I upvote.

That's a button though.
