The university AND jstor were pretty quick to get as uninvolved from that mess as quick as possible, so it really doesn't matter.... But what you're saying has nothing to do with the case and is also not true. "Broke and entered" implies forced physical access into a clearly forbidden area. The network closet was a room that was left unlocked and was frequently used by janitorial staff to put junk in.

I mean my vote hasn't mattered in the last 2 elections. My state hasnt flipped blue since Obama. There's a lot of situations where voting is a waste of time. Making that not be true is what's going to increase voter turnout, not trying to shame them for something they're not responsible for
What's the point of saying that here? If you're an American who could vote and you're on Lemmy there's a 99.9% chance you voted blue. But even if that weren't the case, all of this transpired while we had a Democrat in office, so it's just a horrible continuation of an already existing trend
It's not really so much about the party moving "left" as much as them not appealing to their base or representing their constituents' ideals. Kamala was asked if she'd done anything differently than Biden and she said no. When most Americans are facing economic uncertainty, that's about the worst thing you can possibly say. People vote for change and they weren't willing to sell that. They too went on TV and said the economy is great because of the stock market.
The party has no teeth, they're not willing to talk about major issues like economic inequality because they too have to bend the knee to the oligarchs. Bernie had the right idea by fundraising on grassroots but the party seems to think they can keep toeing the middle and appeal to the "moderate Democrat" which simply doesn't exist.
Is this a joke? ICE is never going to target business owners and even if ICE did, they'd face no punishment.
That's a matter of opinion, but I will say that at least on computer, any kind of gaming will improve your mechanical skill. I'm grateful to have started using PCs and gaming at a young age
Why call me out like this
You really don't need to. Corpo speak is really just for speaking across different lines of business, like an engineer talking to a project manager or a sales exec talking to a customer. As long as you can express your concerns respectfully then it's not necessary.
So instead of saying something like "what you're asking for makes no sense, that's not my job" you'd say something like "I want to make sure we're both understanding the requirements. Send me what you're proposing and I'll get you pointed in the right direction."
I think the "difficult to please managers" speaks to me. I'm a top performing engineer and I had no problems leading the pack until I had a new manager forced on me who was very much a "suit" type. He views the team as numbers and everything can be solved by "throwing more bodies at it"
Thankfully I got promoted to a new team but yes there are many causes for burnout
Great read. As a network engineer turned programmer, I didn't think this would be very educational, but it was. Definitely gonna check out all other content on that site
I read the story and found it very entertaining. I'm not sure what impact it had on me, but it made me marvel at the idea of the inevitability of fate and how often our suffering and regrets of the past are the reason we're regarded so highly by others.
How did it strike you?
