Trent Reznor's biggest success: writing a song good enough to be covered by Johnny Cash. Such a good tune.

It sounds like you enjoyed it, and it tickled the right parts of your brain for a while. I hope I can find someone like you when the time comes :)

I punched $10 1976 into the Bank of Canada inflation calculator and got $52.27 today. If you are being fair, this is the number to compare against. (Inflation may vary by country.)

There are a lot of concerts you can still go to today for $52. Just avoid A-list arena shows.

"I want to speak to a human you stupid fucking machine."

"Oh hi Steve, thank you so much for taking my call..."

This is so weirdly stated. One can make legitimate arguments against an elected Senate. Things like: sober second set of thought with long term outlooks, meritocratic appointments to balance short term hysteria, etc. Hell, Canada has an appointed Senate, and despite the grumblings of some (mostly conservative) provinces, it works reasonably well. The UK has the House of Lords for similar purposes.

But in the US, where appointments have all become political (see Supreme Court), it could be dangerous. And in particular, when only one party is lobbying to stop democratic forms, it's usually in an attempt to grab some sort of power. One has to tread carefully here.

Four years ago, I was bored and talking to a friend of mine, joking about starting a scientific equipment business in a small niche (geophysics) where there was effectively only one competitor in our national market. Easy to disrupt. To my surprise, he said yes and we went all in. Still just the two of us, but I guess I didn't have to apply for that job, just have a fortuitous connection. Now I do the science parts and he does the business parts and it works great! Probably we will hire this year though, and it's very likely that LinkedIn will be the place we advertise.

The last tool I used? Does email count? ;) Ground Penetrating Radar.

Was downtown. Windshield fluid was running low, and I thought to myself: "self, just stop at the corner of Broadway and Main and grab some." Then I realized it's been like decades since the gas station was there. Then I questioned if it ever existed...

I'm assuming I can polish the plastic on the headlights in my 2006 Toyota Matrix. I plastic is still "clear", but all the road grit over the years have pitted and fogged the surface. Any advice on material for polishing?
