But also, MFW somebody turns a perfectly usable desktop application into an internal website that ends up only working on one browser...

I love how all the reactions to this are either "I love this" and "this is cursed beyond belief"

I personally would get a kick out of this as a skin for occasional use...

I am constantly amused about how "next year" has been "the year of Linux on the desktop" for 20+ years. Meanwhile, Linux & BSD have pretty much completely taken over the whole world except the desktop in that same time.

As a slight tangent, I recently got an electric moped. It has a maximum speed of 48kph, and the speed limit on my route to work and back every day is 50kph.

I bet that if we made a Venn diagram of all the people that say "I'd respect cyclists of they were forced to be registered with number plates and insurance" and the people that insist on overtaking me in single-lane suburban streets because I'm going 2kph below the limit, it would just be a perfect circle.

There are three issues here:

  1. The leaked ROM of Tears of the Kingdom and a .nfo that specifically told people to use Yuzu
  2. The developers recently released an Android version that works really, really well. There are many Android based gaming handhelds on the market now, and several are powerful enough to run Switch games using Native Code Execution (think virtual machine for ARM). Switch emulation was being used as a benchmark in techie videos of these products! TotK still isn't great on the most powerful ones, but give it another year or two, and you'll get the full Switch experience without a Switch.
  3. The developers fucking sold the emulator. Sure, it was only for early access, but a sale is a sale. Then there the whole patreon thing.

Those three things combined put Yuzu right in Nintendo's sights

Electricity distribution/supply networks

It's not just the media that gets this wrong, but politicians (who should absolutely know better). The whole reason the grid is such a mess is because capitalist types come up with some fever dream for extracting more value from consumers, and then this is sold through the media as "more choice" when the reality is that there's literally no choice being made anywhere. You can't choose your generator, distribution network, or metering provider. You can choose your energy retailer, but the electrons coming out of your power socket are the same. Your smart meter absolutely does not allow you to save money, any more than Amazon sales do when they Jack up the prices immediately before said sale.

Taxes

Good god there's a lot of misinformation out there. In Australia at least, you almost certainly do not need to see a tax agent to do your taxes.

As a Spotify Artist, I bet I don't even see a single hundredth of a penny for somebody paying extra for the lyrics, either...

And even if Spotify did pay out extra for lyrics, I'm sure they'd find a way to screw my band out of royalties like they currently are anyway.

Yeah, same. It's also part of their mindset that "progressive = immature" which I've always found really confusing.

Yes, the idea that my taxes should be spent for the benefit of all is immature. Gotcha.

I'm literally on the other side of the world to her and I can see that she's either a blithering idiot, a Russian asset, or a blithering idiot being used by a Russian asset.

Are they going to let us move the damn taskbar this time?

How weird would it be if all those "I do not give Facebook permission to blah blah rights blah" posts/statements actually did have legal weight in the Fediverse?
