Don't invest in crypto.

Yep, me too. Unbelievable that it was LastPass, Authy and Gmail a few years ago. What a shift for me :-).

Is a release at the Play Store planned?

Yeah, I could install F-Droid for just one app, but I'm not going to :-). I am currently updating the app via the Codeberg Site, but auto-updates would be nicer.

I'm using Qobuz. Since it is a rather small service, I just hope it is more private than the "big players" like Spotify/Apple Music. But the main benefits of Qobuz are the audio quality and the (afaik) highest payment per streamed song for artists.

I have been an Android user for 13 years now. After using almost every Google service possible I am going down the privacy rabbit hole lately. Gmail -> Proton Mail, Chrome -> Firefox, Keep -> Notesnook, Google Search -> Kagi, ...

I am currently using a Galaxy S23 with as few Google apps as possible (and focussing mainly on open-source apps). I am familiar with rooting (I was a CyanogenMod user back in the days), but today I want to use the phone without tinkering and problem solving. I also like to use a smartwatch and banking apps, so GrapheneOS is a no-go unfortunately.

So it is "Stock" Android (or Samsung's Android ) vs. iOS for me. Is it better (in terms of privacy) to use an iPhone or stick with an Android phone with an system wide ad-/tracking Blocker (I use Adguard)? It seems there are more privacy-friendly/open-source apps on Android.

No, because a cow has to be impregnated and their baby is taken away (and either killed (male) or is also going to be a milk cow (female)) just for you having some pleasure.

Tomorrow Season 1 will begin and I want to start with a new character then.

I'm currently playing a Rogue at Level 50 and I am at Act V. When I play through the game before starting Season 1 with a new char, does this make a change? Can I skip the story completely after completing the game once?

I really like the idea of open source software and use it as much as possible.

But another "problem" is that you don't know if the compiled program you use is actually based on the open source code or if the developer merged it with some shady code no one knows about. Sure, you can compile by yourself. But who does that 😉?

Do you really think there will be a big rush on Lemmy's servers on July 1st? In my opinion most people that wanted to switch to Lemmy/boycott Reddit already did so. The rest will just use the official app or the browser website.

Not trusting in science.

Edit: Since there are many comments, I would like to clarify my statement. I meant that you should rather trust scientists, that the earth is round / that there is a human-made climate change, etc. and not listen to some random internet guy, that claims these things are false although he has made no scientific tests or he has no scientific background. I know that there are paradigm shifts in science and sometimes old ideas are proven to be wrong. But those shifts happen through other scientific experiments/thoughts. As long as > 99 % of all scientists think that something is true, you should rather trust them then any conspiracy theorist...

Well, since I am one of the people who chose the "official" server on Lemmy as well as on Mastodon, I will tell you why I did it: The "official" server will most likely be the one, that has the least chance to be abandoned/closed at some time in contrast to a small server maintained by some student as a side-project (no offense :-) ). I don't want to loose everything and start at zero, so I chose the most "reliable" server.

I would be interested in the number of (new) Lemmy users. Similar to @mastodonusercount@mastodon.social

Are there any graphs that show users over time for all instances?

[-] utopia_dig@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 year ago

Just deleted my account without any problems. Deleted all posts/comments via Redact before of course...

Yeah, it is kind of confusing for the average user why there is a !Technology@lemmy.ml and a !Technology@beehaw.org community. If you subscribe to both you will see topics twice. If you subscribe to only one you can miss things out.

So it is either closed-source with promised encryption (not verifiable) and a lot of meta data collection or open-source without encryption. Tough call. Signal would be best of both worlds, but it seems to be no alternative for you.

Since I don't trust Meta with anything, I would use Telegram if I had to. But I would absolutely not be happy with it.

Try to convince the people around you to use Signal.
