I think the whole USB-C business is the worst example of an axe to grind with Apple. Who says that standard must be the only one? The EU have forced something that didn’t need to be forced. I’ve got a household full of Apple gadgets and no USB-C, so when we do update something later than iPhone 15 and it has that connector, it will be the only one, and no other charges will work with it expect any adapters I might have from C to A. I just don’t get it that it was that important.

Example; VORON project. 3DPrinters engineered and designed by the project team, contributed to by the community, they don’t sell a product, they share all the plans, BOM and instructions how to make your own 3D printers and even offer a ‘bootstrap’ scheme called ‘print it forward’ where you can pay costs only for parts that have to be printed for the build. VORON

That doesn’t sound like a bad thing tbh.

Ford build nothing in the UK anymore, I could not care what their opinion is on this issue. Toyota on the other hand are being flexible, support working with whatever is current guidance whether well advised or not, and crucially: employ people in the U.K. building vehicles here.

Started because of the 70s Three day working week to manage the rolling power cuts, miners strikes fuel crisis, then tortured by thatcher who was set to nuke the unions of the face of the planet. Blues hate working class, reds hate anyone who makes profits, and each are scared the other will do those 70s and 80s things again and again. Nevermind that Blair’s Labour was a middle right party, and nothing like the Red Ken memories of Labour past, and it seems like tories have moved out to the right while Labour have moved into their old chairs. I don’t know what SDP liberals stand for

Anyone can go, but there are fees. If you can’t afford the fees or the living costs you can get a means tested student loan. They copied the US model and the costs are slowly getting in that direction. I graduated in the early 90’s when grants were still a thing, but they froze them so they didn’t rise with inflation any longer and you could get ‘top up loans’ to bridge the gap to cost of living. I think I borrowed something like £750. But it was the beginning of the end of free higher education here.

And when it’s loaded: ‘> You are standing at a crossroads, there are ways to the North, East, West and South. There is a Dwarf. The Dwarf throws an axe at you, the axe misses ‘>_

I’ve got an old vega56 in hand because I upgraded an old mac pro and I’m wondering whether I can build a usable Linux gaming rig with it.

“Uphill in both directions into a headwind”, if they look really knackered.
