RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Hello everyone,

As we moved here, I was thinking to recreate the regular threads using https://schedule.lemmings.world/

The ones we had on Lemm.ee were

  • Music Monday - What have you been listening to?
  • Cheerful Tuesday - What made you smile or laugh?
  • Hobbies Wednesday - What have you been doing?
  • Thursday - How is your week going?
  • Friday - What are your plans for the week-end?
  • Saturday - What have you watched this week?
  • Pets Sunday

First of all, do you have any ideas of other weekly threads that we could have?

Second, I am looking for other people to "own" the weekly threads, this community is your as well, after all!

@southsamurai@sh.itjust.works offered to handle the Sunday one, would any of you be interested in posting any of the other ones?

You can just use https://schedule.lemmings.world/ to schedule the post with a weekly recurrence.

You just get the idea you need to be in the wilderness (whatever is local - hot, cold, dry, wet, etc). You can pick anything up you want on the way out, but you can't stop walking out the door.

How long do you reckon you would make it living off the land? Any special circumstances or tools that would have helped?

It feels like I’m decluttering. I joined a couple meme communities or whatever they’re called here. And I like the usual stuff movies, games, books and have checked some of those. I’m not trying to go overboard and join every place, more so looking cool and chill places to interact with people.

I noticed this with almost every outdoor activity I do.

While I love diving and snorkeling, but after the first dive/ snorkel back to boat I can't wait to get back in but I don't want to get wet, put on masks, fins etc.

We were canoeing and while I could go 15-20 miles in a single session I hate getting out of the canoe and getting it out of the water, getting dry, eating and then just the though of getting back into a canoe is exhausting.

I noticed this with climbing as well. Thats why I just prefer to boulder if i ever go climb.

If I had two scuba dives in a row without having to go back to boat I'd enjoy it way more. But these breaks in the middle of the day are so exhausting for me.

Is this normal? Everytime I go on trips nobody has this problem.

But once I am set up and back in I'm fine. It's just this phase during breaks where I think I am actually fine and could go home now. One reason why I just prefer to power through 6-8 hours and then eat a huge dinner.

It's been a while since I've given myself time off so it feels weird to be free.

Anyways I've been trying to enjoy some nice weather while I have it.🌳🦋🚴🦆

This devout man believes in being kind to all God's creatures. However, if they try to invade his vegetable garden then he's quite happy to hand out advice on how to destroy the pests! His job is to watch lovingly over the simple folk of his parish, although some say he prefers to keep an eye on his beloved vegetables, especially the carrots.

I have been trying to be more intentional and analog with the way I communicate, among many other things.

I like sending postcards filled with notes and observations about the place I'm in when I travel, but don't plan on traveling a lot in the near future to save some money (hopefully to buy a house), and it doesn't feel right to send friends/family postcards from my hometown... And nobody ever sends reply postcards, anyway.

I think it would be fun to try the penpal thing, break out some lined paper and see how bad my handwriting has gotten over the years of constant digital communication...

Anywhere on earth is fine, international postage for a standard letter isn't that expensive, and it'd actually be kind of cool to know our little papers are traversing the globe and crossing oceans like the good ol' days. All I ask is that you actually want to try and keep it up for a while! I have no idea what a good cadence would be, maybe every-other week? ~once a month? We'll figure it out as we go, I'm sure.

I just think it would be fun and exciting to try and get to know someone the long, slow way, completely separate from the barrage of light-speed communication afforded these days.

I don't want to commit to more than 2 people, I know myself and feel like I'd get overwhelmed with more than 2.

In Star Trek: TNG, mine is Picard. In Wallace and Gromit, it's Wallace.
