I was kicked off Medicaid at the start of this year and subsequently lost access to my ADHD and depression medication. In February, I moved to a new area and got a new job, but had to wait several months until I qualified for health insurance through it.

After that point, I had to wait for a weekday when I wasn't working and when I had the mental capacity to tolerate back-to-back disappointing phone calls... all without medication that would make the process significantly easier to tolerate. These are only the calls I've made today.

Finally, FINALLY, I have an intake appointment scheduled.

It's absolutely shameful how much a struggling person is expected to do in order to access basic mental health care.

This was a couple weeks ago. He said he wanted to try me on stimulant medication, but I needed to go get clearance from my primary care doctor because I've also been dealing with some tachycardia. She put me on a beta blocker, although hopefully with better time-management and more energy I'll exercise enough to eventually come off the beta blocker. I had a follow-up this week and asked the psychiatrist if he thinks I have ADHD. He was a little reluctant to say I definitely have it, that it's more of a clinical diagnosis and I could go do some tests with a computer or see a neuropsychiatrist for a more definitive diagnosis, but also didn't seem to think I really needed to do that. Still need either a formal letter from my primary care doctor or possibly the visit notes would suffice if she mentioned taking stimulants so he can prescribe them, but I'm really hoping they'll help.

organize my supplies: pull everything out sort, play with stuff, go to store for organizing bins and maybe order new craft supplies, label, get tired, and leave almost everything in piles for weeks. Oh, and feel guilty every single time I walk by the piles, but be completely unable to do anything about them.

Yeah, I know it's gross. But that's me, the gross coffee drinker.

Title is from Who Framed Roger Rabbit as is the image in the meme. Meme reads, "You mean you could've done it at any time?!" ADHD replies, "Not at any time, only when it was INTERESTING or URGENT."

Meme reads, "ADHD in normal circumstances: 'I have no idea what's happening and I am grossly underprepared for everything and falling apart, pls send help' ADHD in times of CRISIS: (smiling emoji wearing sunglasses) I have been training for this moment my entire life. Stand back, weaklings, I've got this covered."
