Currently only have experience with a cheap Shark steam mop that pulls double duty for walls, but the capabilities are impressive!

We're looking for something more versatile, nooks and crannies are difficult, and the steam mop can't be lifted past a certain point or gravity becomes a problem.

Any recommendations for something more professional and long term? Thank you ahead of time <3

I bought a Black and Decker dustbuster 2 years ago, and it was great for the first year. After that, it will only run for about 45 seconds and then dies. I've just kind of dealt with that, only using it for occasional small cleanups rather than actual use. The batteries are impossible to replace without also destroying the battery holder and circuitry (I tried).

Basically looking for a recommendation for a good dustbuster that sucks in the good way and, ideally, has batteries that can be replaced when they go bad.

Willing to consider alternate styles such as parkas, as long as it includes a head covering

Sunglasses? (lemmy.world)

Hi Everyone!

I recently broke my Ray-Bans and was curious about recommendations for sunglasses. I understand they're commonly considered a consumable item, but was hoping to find some solid and/or sustainable options.

Thanks for weighing in :)

So I recently got into this community and as Winter is slowly approaching I am looking to buy and keep following items for quite some time:

  • a jacket: should keep me warm enough to around -5°C but as I cycle my commute should keep be too warm on its own, it does rain a lot (snows less often) so that should be kept in mind as well

  • a pair of shoes that fit the same criteria mentioned for the jacket.

Also, my budget for both items is not too high (~100€) per product.

If this does not fit any rules for posting, please tell me so & if this is the wrong Subreddit tell me too :)

I use these alteast 3 times a week while mountain biking. Fits my foot like a glove and still holds water. Hands down the best shoes I've ever had.

One thing to note though is that these are not for winter use. The rubber gets hard in cold weather and has zero grip on ice and I truly mean zero. Ask me how I know lol

Such a blow for a BI4Ler. When budget allows I always pick up physical media of my favourite movies and shows.

I have never had a pair of shoes that could last more than a few years. I've even paid for expensive shoes that claimed to be super durable and they fell apart faster than a cheap ass $10 pair from Walmart.

I'm at a point where I have very little hope that anyone, anyone, makes good, comfortable shoes that aren't made of paper mache.

BIFL Coffee Maker (sh.itjust.works)

Looking for recommendations on coffee makers. Preferably a drip coffee maker. I've been using a percolator for years and while it usually works fine, it doesn't always brew thoroughly if the water isn't cold enough.

Quality lamps new? (lemmy.world)

I’m looking for a buy-new quality floor lamp. When it comes to desk lamps, I’ve found a few bankers lamps but I don’t know which company makes the best one.

Floor lamps though, I don’t know where to begin. I’ve heard “Build your own” a few times but I’d prefer a prebuilt or kit rather than buying the parts and making it myself.

Bought these earbuds originally in 2019 and I have not been disappointed.

I have tried several other types and brands but none of them come close to the sound quality or durability of these bad boys!

The noise cancellation is also fantastic on them as well as the battery life.

They're a bit hard to track down now as Samsung have stopped selling them and only sell the newer versions, unfortunately.

Be aware that some of the newer versions do not fit airtight in the ears, which means no noise cancellation.

I've also recently tried Google Buds and the difference between the audio quality is night and day. Where the Google Buds are tinny with no noise cancellation, the Samsung Buds are deep and rich, with fantastic noise cancellation.

Overall, highly recommended!

Love recliners, hate cheap-feeling ones, hate the aesthetic of the overstuffed ones. Stressless is a popular rec but I'm not into their separated ottoman design, and my wife doesn't like the looks of the powered ones. Is R&B the next best choice, or any other brands that stick out as BIFL?

usb-c charging cables (sh.itjust.works)

I guess "for life" probably won't apply here with obsolescence being what it is, I'd settle for longer than a year. Anyone know of good usb-c cables that actually last?

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a manual coffee grinder? I have heard folks discuss the Peugeot grinders, but I want to see about alternatives.

Notebooks (sh.itjust.works)

I'm looking for notebooks that I can have with me pretty much always. I've had a few TBIs and my memory is all kinds of messed up.

I'm looking for notebooks that I can use to easily catalog notes, and solutions to problems and such. I need them to be tough because I do a lot of outdoor stuff for fun and for work. I work on cars for fun, I go hiking, and kayaking, and I work with petroleum and the environment and so on.

I guess I need them to be a decent size but not too big, because I think I'll have to carry a few to separate work from hobbies, from day to day stuff.

Any ideas?

What are some items that you have bought, and have lasted a really long time, or have solid lifetime warranties?

I realized I don't think I have anything I would put into that category, and I would like to change that. Most of my stuff comes straight from the Amazon recommended section, and realistically probably won't last more than 5 years :(
