Am I the only one who found building the bot easier than getting users? I spent months developing my Discord bot, and now finding testers feels way harder than writing the code.

How did you get your first 10–50 testers?

Bought some Discord decoration a while back. Got an error saying something went wrong during checkout, but the payment still went through. Never got the item though. Contacted support almost a week ago, radio silence since then. Anyone else dealt with this? Wondering if it’s a known issue or if I just need to wait longer (Paid with Paypal)

Discord has quietly begun testing Incode as a new age verification provider, replacing its previous vendor for some users. The company says face scans are processed on-device where possible, IDs and selfies are deleted after age confirmation, and Discord only receives an age result, not your identity. But the move still raises important privacy questions around biometric verification, third-party trust, and the growing trend of mandatory age checks online, especially after the massive Persona breach linked to Discord user data back in 2025

That has always been my question. My next question is : can we do without installing any app ??

I’ve kinda been using Discord a lot and lately it just feels a bit much for me.

Like there’s always something going on, servers are super busy, roles everywhere, notifications nonstop, and it feels like you’re kinda expected to always be active or replying. It’s not really bad, just kinda overwhelming sometimes.

I’m 16 and I started messing around with this idea called Hideout. It’s nothing big yet, just something I’m building and seeing where it goes.

It’s kinda like a mix between Discord and Reddit. You still have rooms and chatting like Discord, but it’s more chill like Reddit where it’s not all about being online all the time or keeping up with everything.

I’ve been trying to keep it really simple. Less pressure around identity and presence, and just easier conversations without all the extra stuff.

Not saying Discord is bad or anything, it just feels like there could be something a bit lighter.

Curious if anyone else feels like that or if it’s just me overthinking it.

The Hideout

I remember that a phone number wasn't needed, only if you entered certain communities that required a confirmed phone number.

Do you think discord will shut down?

Double Counter - Warning!! (discuss.tchncs.de)
submitted 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) by smq@discuss.tchncs.de to c/discordapp@lemmy.world

TLDR: Double Counter stores a bunch of semi personally identifiable information for the purpose of identifying you and your alt accounts!! be careful!!

Double Counter is a discord bot that detects alt accounts through a variety of techniques, including IP and browser fingerprinting, and probably others which I don't know of.

if your account is flagged, the information (with you and your suspected alt) is sent to the server moderators. they also have a paid service that you can subscribe to in order to search their database of discord profiles for alts.

the paid service is opt-out-able, using a command, but the command is not available in DMs so you will have to use it in a server with Double Counter in it, and some server channels don't allow it.

data deletion is only partially (it's only stated that they will delete your IP) and locked in their server, behind a 10 minute wait.

I just requested a copy of my data (which is sent by email, you have to fill in an email) but it hasn't arrived yet - apparently right now (August 5) that system is down

update: August 16, still down

anyways this whole thing screams red flags to me & if you get a message from it telling you to verify, use caution!!!! you have to click a link to get to the verify page, that's how it collects your information.

Add BOT Music on discord (www.youtube.com)

Hey everyone! I know adding bots to a Discord server might seem super easy to some people, but for anyone who’s new to Discord or just starting to customize their own server, it can actually be a little confusing i hope this help you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwMpih2_2Q8

I'm trying to delete my account and start over fresh but everytime I remove my phone number it says that "suspicious activity" has been detected and the only way to verify my account is to put the phone number back on.

Can someone please help me stop this circular logic?

So I'm able to share my wayland screen from both firefox and ungoogled-chromium using pipewire+xdg-desktop-portal-wlr. However my stream has no audio.

I've found several posts on the internet of 3-4 years ago (e.g. https://old.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/lfxbik/tutorial_how_to_share_audio_on_discord_or_any/ ) where people just had an extra audio input in pipewire when sharing screen to which they could route their game audio. But for me there's only my microphone input and chromium says "To share audio, share the tab instead" when screen sharing.

Has anyone been able to get audio working?

upd: Vesktop is what worked for me

This appears to be the first post about it in the Lemmiverse (for this instance), so... here we go!

After Profile effects and Avatar decorations, you can now buy Name Plates for your profile.

Honestly, this is the type of monetization that I dislike the least, considering the alternatives. You don't even have to have Nitro afaik, the premium subscription that allows mostly cosmetic perks

Discord has begun requiring some users in the United Kingdom and Australia to verify their age through a facial scan before being permitted to access sensitive content. The chat app’s new process has been described as an “experiment,” and comes in response to laws passed in those countries that place guardrails on youth access to online platforms. Discord has also been the target of concerns that it does not sufficiently protect minors from sexual content.

Wondering if anyone knows good alternatives to Discord's screen sharing feature (good quality, good framerate, low latency, and sound support).

Preferably FOSS, but at this point I'm taking all answers. Feel free to redirect me if there's any other community I should ask this in.

At least you can hide them, for now. Another notch on the "enshittification" scale.

TL;DR: Discord launched its Social SDK, enabling game devs to integrate social features like voice, video, and text chat directly into games. This aims to enhance in-game social experiences and make it easier for players to connect and communicate without leaving the game. The SDK is designed to be developer-friendly, is free to use and supports cross-platform functionality. You can also use it as a player without needing an account, but linking your Discord account will give you more functionality.
